ABConvert is a Shopify A/B testing app for stores that want to test prices, shipping rates, themes and pages without editing theme code.
It is a reasonable, lower-cost pick for a mid-sized Shopify store, but price tests start on the $199/month Growth plan, not the $99 entry plan, so the real saving over Intelligems depends on your order volume and which tests you need.
This review draws on ABConvert's pricing page, help docs and public Shopify App Store reviews.
We have not used ABConvert ourselves. To show what this kind of testing finds, we link real price, shipping and theme tests from our test database.

What ABConvert tests: price, shipping, theme and URL
ABConvert's App Store listing shows it launched in October 2022, holds the Built for Shopify badge and has a 4.7 rating from 84 reviews as of November 2026. The docs list these test types:
- Price tests: different product prices per test group, applied at checkout with Shopify Functions, so products aren't duplicated (price test docs).
- Shipping tests: shipping rates and free-shipping thresholds by shipping zone (shipping test docs).
- Offer tests: automatic discounts, for when the price stays the same.
- Theme and template tests: a whole theme against another, or a single product, collection or page template.
- URL redirect tests: split traffic between two landing pages.
- Visual editor, checkout and subscription tests: on-page copy and images, checkout changes, and Recharge or SKIO subscription offers.
Price tests are where results swing the most.
Convertibles moved an adult wellness brand's prices from $99/$99 to $125/$90 and saw +54.7% profit per visitor.
Elevate A/B Testing went the other way and cut a price by 30%, getting a 2x conversion rate.
Our price testing guide covers how to set these up safely.
Shipping tests can surprise you too. Dave Diederen tested shipping price levels and found a $9.49 fee beat the control, for +43.81% revenue per visitor.
Convertibles raised a free-shipping threshold from $49 to $59 for +6.5% profit per visitor.
Theme tests answer the "should we launch the redesign?" question.
Oliver Kenyon ran a full theme test of the homepage, collections, menu and subscriptions for a skincare brand, worth +£281,417 in annual revenue.
Kasper Dolk tested a new theme with a BOGO offer against the old theme: revenue per visitor went from £1.08 to £1.54 (+41.85%).
Offers deserve a test before launch as well.
Milos changed a 2-pack offer to "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" at the same price and saw -52.38% revenue per visitor.
An offer test in ABConvert is meant to catch that kind of loss.
ABConvert pricing
As of November 2026, the ABConvert pricing page lists four plans, each with a 14-day free trial.
You pay for "test orders", meaning orders from visitors placed in a test, not your store's total orders.
| Plan | Monthly price | Test orders included | Overage | Price tests |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $99 | 1,000 | $59 per extra 1K | No |
| Growth | $199 | 5,000 | $39 per extra 1K | Yes |
| Scale | $399 | 15,000 | $29 per extra 1K | Yes |
| Pro | $599 | 30,000 | $24 per extra 1K | Yes |
Every plan includes the visual editor, URL redirect, template, theme, shipping, checkout and offer tests, plus audience targeting and the Google Analytics integration.
Scale adds priority support, and Pro adds a dedicated theme integration and Slack support.
The billing docs say overage is charged per 1,000 orders, rounded up, so 1,200 extra orders on Growth cost 2 × $39 = $78. Billing counts every order from an assigned visitor, which can be higher than the order count you see with Analytics filters applied.
Setup and data quality
Setup runs through a theme app embed, a Shopify web pixel and Shopify Functions, so you don't edit Liquid.
The FAQ says the embed works with most Online Store 2.0 and legacy themes, while heavily customized themes may need help from support.
Headless stores on Hydrogen or Next.js use a separate SDK.
Plan requirements matter here. The FAQ says shipping tests need the Carrier Service API ("Shopify Grow+"), and checkout UI tests need Shopify Plus.
Shipping tests can't change rates from third-party shipping apps, and only one active shipping test can target a given zone.
Some price test limits from the price test docs:
- Price tests don't work with subscription products. Use a subscription test instead.
- You can't change the products or prices once a test is live. You end it and start a new one.
- Only one active price test can run on the same product.
- Per-market prices in local currency are supported on Growth and above.
On the stats side, the significance docs say ABConvert calls a result significant at 95% confidence, defined as 100% minus the p-value, and shows a 95% uplift range.
The docs warn that "Prob. Beat Control" figures can look convincing before a result is actually significant.
The FAQ recommends at least two full weeks and 100-200 conversions per group, which rules out many small stores.
Orders are tied to a test group through the web pixel, with cart attributes as a backup.
The reports cover revenue per visitor, average order value, conversion rate and profit, using your own product, shipping and transaction costs (per the listing).
Test groups can be sent to GA4, Clarity, Hotjar, Klaviyo, Segment, BigQuery and other tools (integrations).
Public reviews are mostly positive: 93% of the 84 App Store reviews are five stars.
The few low ratings mention support. One 2025 reviewer said support runs on Beijing business hours, and a 2026 reviewer complained that a billing period they barely used wasn't prorated.
A 2023 review said inventory didn't sync during a test, though that predates the current Shopify Functions approach.
ABConvert vs Intelligems
Both are Shopify-only apps built around price, shipping and offer tests with profit reporting.
The main differences are how they charge and how you commit.
| ABConvert | Intelligems | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Plan plus test-order overage | Modules priced by monthly store order volume |
| Entry price | $99/month (no price tests) | From $69/month at the lowest order tier |
| Cheapest way to price test | Growth, $199/month, month to month | Smart Pricing module, 3-month minimum |
| Free trial | 14 days on all plans | 14 days, but not on Smart Pricing modules |
| Shipping tests | Needs Carrier Service API | Rate tests need Shopify Advanced or Plus |
| Best for | Mid-sized stores wanting price, shipping and theme tests on one plan | Larger stores running price tests often |
As of November 2026, Intelligems' pricing page says Build Your Own plans start at $69/month at the lowest order tier, and its Smart Pricing modules need a 3-month minimum and don't get the free trial.
Its Unlimited plan bundles every module. Since Intelligems prices by store order volume and ABConvert by test orders, compare quotes at your own volume.
Intelligems has a longer track record in price testing and more published guidance.
Josh Thompson used it to test a new page design against the existing page and reported +175.64% revenue per visitor.

Who ABConvert fits
Good fit: Shopify stores with enough orders to reach 100-200 conversions per group in a few weeks, that want price, shipping and theme tests without a long contract.
The test-order billing also helps if you test only part of your traffic.
Not a fit:
- Stores that only want to test prices on a budget, since Starter doesn't include price tests.
- Subscription-heavy stores hoping to price test subscription products.
- Teams that need same-day support in American hours, based on some reviews.
- Stores that aren't on Shopify, or that run tests across several sites.
- Low-traffic stores, where any testing app will struggle to reach significance.
Alternatives: Intelligems for heavy price testing, Shoplift for theme tests (from $99/month, see our Shoplift review), and Convert if you test beyond Shopify.
As of November 2026, the Convert pricing page lists Growth at $399/month billed monthly or $299/month billed annually.
