Intelligems Review: Pricing, Features and Alternatives

Intelligems is worth it if your Shopify store gets enough orders to test prices, shipping rates and offers, because that is where it is stronger than most A/B testing apps. If you only want to test page layouts, or you have a tight budget, a cheaper content-testing tool will likely do the job.

This review is based on Intelligems' pricing page, its help docs and public Shopify App Store reviews. We have not used Intelligems ourselves. We also point to real price and shipping tests from our test database so you can see what this kind of testing turns up.

What Intelligems does

Intelligems is a Shopify app for A/B testing and personalization. Its App Store listing says it can test prices, discounts, content, shipping, checkout and post-purchase offers, and the app launched on the store in December 2021.

The features are split into modules, according to the pricing page:

  • Smart Content: landing pages, themes and on-site edits. Included in every plan.
  • Smart Pricing: product and subscription price tests.
  • Smart Shipping: shipping rate and free shipping threshold tests.
  • Merchandising: discounts, gifts with purchase and upsells.
  • Checkout & Post-Purchase: trust badges and post-purchase offers.

Two things set it apart. First, it reports profit, not just conversion rate, because you can add cost of goods sold. Second, the listing describes audience personalization by traffic source, device, Klaviyo segment or behavior, so a winning variant can be shown only to the visitors it worked for.

Profit reporting matters more than it sounds. In one test in our database, Josh Thompson tested a new page design against the existing page in Intelligems and reported +137.26% conversion rate, +175.64% revenue per visitor and +181.51% profit per visitor, an estimated +$51,423/month. Seeing profit per visitor next to conversion rate tells you whether a win actually pays.

Public reviews are mostly positive. As of November 2026 the app has 4.8 out of 5 stars from 201 reviews on the Shopify App Store. Reviewers praise the clear reporting, no-code setup and support. The most common complaint is cost, and some reviewers say the interface could be easier to set up without help.

Intelligems pricing

Intelligems charges by your store's monthly order volume, not by visitors. The pricing page says there are no per-visitor charges or overages.

As of November 2026, the App Store listing shows these starting prices at the lowest order tier:

PlanMonthlyAnnual
Smart Content$69/month$660/year
Smart Merchandise$112.10/month$1,071.60/year
Smart Shipping$112.10/month$1,071.60/year
Unlimited (all modules)$349/month$3,468/year

Prices rise as your order volume grows, so check the pricing page for your own tier. The "Build Your Own" option lets you combine modules, with 5% off for two modules, 10% for three and 15% for four or more, plus 20% off for annual billing.

Some terms to know before you sign up:

  • There is a 14-day free trial, but it covers all modules except Smart Pricing.
  • Smart Pricing and the Unlimited plan carry a 3-month minimum. Intelligems says price testing "needs a one-time integration our team builds for your store."
  • The Unlimited plan adds a dedicated customer success manager, a storefront audit and live onboarding.

So the real minimum cost of a price test is three months of a pricing plan. For a small store, that is a meaningful bet, which is why traffic and order volume matter (see our guide to testing with low traffic).

Price and shipping tests

This is the main reason to pick Intelligems. Most Shopify A/B testing apps focus on page content. Changing what a shopper actually pays at checkout is harder, and Intelligems has built its product around it.

How price tests work

Intelligems' main price-testing method uses Shopify Functions, so the cart and checkout charge the price for the visitor's test group without duplicating products. Duplicate products are still used in some cases, such as stores that can't use Functions or older subscription setups.

The price testing FAQ lists limits worth knowing:

  • Shopify Bundle products can't be price tested.
  • Subscription products with selling plans need the duplicate-products method.
  • Tests run in your default currency only; other currencies are left out of results.
  • Shopify is set to the highest test price, so Google Shopping, Meta and other channels show that price.
  • The Shop Pay installments widget can't be changed by the app.
  • By default, one test can include up to 500 products.

Price tests can produce big swings in both directions. Elevate A/B Testing, a testing app that shares results with us, saw a 2x conversion rate after cutting a price by 30%. Oliver Kenyon lowered a price and removed a free gift ($82 vs $85 plus gift) for +$43k/month.

Offers can also lose badly. Milos (CROguy_) changed a 2-pack offer to "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" at the same price and saw -52.38% revenue per visitor, a loss of $104,679/month. That is the case for testing an offer instead of just launching it. Our price testing guide covers how to set these tests up safely.

How shipping tests work

During a shipping test, Intelligems supplies the shipping rates at checkout based on each shopper's test group, cart value and weight, according to its shipping docs. You can test flat rates, flat rates with a threshold, a threshold only, or tiers by price or weight.

The main limit: Intelligems can only replace rates set up natively in Shopify. The shipping FAQ says rates from another carrier or shipping app can't be changed. Shipping tests are also sitewide only, not per product.

Shipping is one of the most rewarding things to test in our database, and the results often go against the "free shipping always wins" idea. Dave Diederen has published several examples (we don't know which tool ran each one):

Who Intelligems fits (and who it doesn't)

Intelligems is a good fit if:

  • You run a Shopify store with steady order volume and want to test prices, shipping or offers.
  • You care about profit per visitor, not just conversion rate.
  • You want to show winning offers only to certain audiences, such as one traffic source.
  • Your team doesn't have a developer free to build every test.

Intelligems is probably not for you if:

  • You don't sell on Shopify. It is a Shopify-only app.
  • You only want to test layouts and copy. You would pay for features you won't use.
  • You have few orders. A price test needs a 3-month commitment, and low order counts take a long time to reach a clear result.
  • Your shipping rates come from a third-party app, or you rely heavily on Shopify Bundles or multi-currency sales. Check the docs limits above first.

Intelligems alternatives

Here is how Intelligems compares with other tools Shopify stores use for testing. Prices are as of November 2026 and come from each vendor's pricing page or App Store listing.

Convert$399/month monthly, $299/month annualYesTeams testing Shopify plus other sitesSmall stores, non-technical owners

Shoplift focuses on theme testing and charges by visitors rather than orders. The pricing page lists Core at $99/month for up to 50k visitors, with price testing on Advanced at $299/month. Read our Intelligems vs Shoplift comparison.

Elevate is a lower-cost Shopify app. Its App Store listing shows a Basic plan from $49/month, scaling by order volume, and lists price, shipping and checkout testing. Elevate contributes tests to our database, such as listing the biggest pack first in a bundle selector (+8.47% revenue per visitor).

Convert is a general A/B testing platform that works on Shopify and other sites. As of November 2026, the Convert pricing page lists Growth at $399/month billed monthly or $299/month billed annually, for 100k tested users a month, with a 15-day free trial. It is more technical than a Shopify app, so it suits teams with a developer or a CRO agency. See our Convert review.

The bottom line: if your biggest open questions are about price, shipping and offers, Intelligems is built for them, and the tests in our database show those levers can move revenue a lot. If not, start with a cheaper content-testing tool and add price testing later.
