Shoplift is a good fit if you run a Shopify store with steady traffic and want to A/B test themes, templates and landing pages without writing code. It is a weaker fit if you mainly want to test prices and shipping rates on a budget, or if your traffic is high and spiky, because every plan is capped by total store visitors. Plans start at $99/month as of November 2026 (Shoplift pricing).
We have not used Shoplift ourselves. This review is based on Shoplift's own docs and pricing page, its Shopify App Store reviews, and the real theme and page tests in our test database.
What Shoplift does
Shoplift (the company's site is shoplift.ai, which is why many people search for "Shoplift AI") is an A/B testing app built only for Shopify. It installs from the Shopify App Store and runs tests inside your theme, not on top of it with a separate visual editor.
Test types
Shoplift's homepage lists tests on prices, subscriptions, product pages, carts, collection pages, landing pages, navigation, search, entire themes and other apps (Shoplift). In practice, those fall into four groups:
- Template tests: you duplicate a Shopify template, change it in the theme editor, and Shoplift splits traffic between the two. To test a single product, you assign that product to its own duplicate template (Shoplift docs).
- Theme tests: two whole themes against each other. Shoplift says this suits site-wide changes such as "navigation menus, mini carts/cart drawers, new apps, or entirely new themes" (Shoplift docs).
- URL split tests: one landing page against another.
- Price and subscription tests: only on the Advanced plan and up (Shoplift pricing).
Theme testing is the feature that sets Shoplift apart. A full theme swap is risky to launch blind, and our database shows why it is worth testing. Kasper Dolk tested a new Shopify theme with a BOGO offer against the old theme for a fashion brand and saw conversion rate rise +44.54% (2.44% to 3.53%) and revenue per visitor +41.85%, with a 99.7% probability to beat the old theme.
Big redesigns do not always win, though. Dave Diederen ran a full checkout update against urgency messaging alone: the full update dropped conversion 1.18%, while the urgency-only change lifted conversion +3.37% and revenue per visitor +6.59%. A theme test tells you whether the whole package wins, but not which part did the work.
Lift Assist and the "AI" features
Lift Assist is Shoplift's recommendation engine. You pick a suggested element, choose a template, and Shoplift duplicates the template and injects a pre-built theme section into the copy (Shoplift docs). The pricing page describes it as using "your brand and test ideas from hundreds of top brands" and lists it on the Advanced plan (Shoplift pricing).
Shoplift also offers an API that it says works with Claude and ChatGPT, so you can ask questions about your test data in plain English (Shoplift). Treat these as helpers for building and reading tests. They do not replace research into what your customers need.
Stats, speed and flicker
Results use Bayesian analysis with conversion rate, revenue per visitor and average order value, and the app predicts how long a test needs to run (Shopify App Store). Shoplift says it renders variants client- and server-side so shoppers "never see the original flash first," and claims 33% faster page loads than the next-fastest Shopify testing app (Shoplift). That speed figure is the vendor's own claim, not an independent benchmark.
Build quality matters here. Oliver Kenyon rebuilt a landing page natively in Shopify and tested it against the same page built in a landing page builder: +9.9% conversion rate and +20.9% revenue per visitor, with the same copy and images. Because Shoplift tests native theme templates, it fits teams that already build this way.
Limits to know about
Theme and template tests depend on matching template names. If someone edits the live theme and adds a new template during a theme test, Shoplift pauses the test, because visitors in the variant "would reach a faulty page" (Shoplift docs). If several people edit your theme, you need a rule about not touching it mid-test.
Shoplift pricing
As of November 2026, Shoplift's pricing page lists three plans, each with a 14-day free trial:
| Plan | Price | Monthly store visitors | Key additions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core | $99/month, or $74/month billed annually | Up to 50,000 | Template, theme and URL split tests; Bayesian reporting; device segmentation |
| Advanced | $299/month | Up to 100,000 | Price, subscription and personalization tests; Lift Assist; geo targeting; GA4; JS API |
| Pro | From $699/month, annual only | Up to 250,000 | Account manager, strategy sessions, storefront audit, Slack channel |
When we checked, the Shopify App Store listing showed higher prices for the upper plans ($399/month for Advanced and $999/month for Pro). Confirm the price you will pay before you install.
The detail that matters most: Shoplift counts total monthly website visitors, not tested visitors. If you go over your plan's limit, "your tests will be temporarily paused" until you upgrade or the billing cycle resets (Shoplift pricing). A store with 120,000 monthly visitors is past the Advanced cap, even if each test only reaches a few thousand people. By contrast, Convert counts only visitors who enter an experiment (Convert pricing).
Price tests also need the Advanced plan. That matters, because pricing and shipping tests often give the clearest wins. Oliver Kenyon lowered a price and removed a free gift and saw +46% CVR and +$43k/month. Dave Diederen raised the shipping price, testing $6.95 and $7.95 against the control: conversion rate did not change, revenue per visitor rose +1.57% and profit per visitor +2.21%. Shoplift's plan list does not include shipping tests, while Intelligems sells them as a separate module. More examples are on our pricing and discount tests page.
Who Shoplift fits (and who it doesn't)
Shoplift has a 4.9 out of 5 rating from 134 reviews on the Shopify App Store. Its homepage names brands such as Liquid Death, Our Place and Fishwife as customers (Shoplift).
Good fit
- Shopify stores whose total monthly traffic fits inside a plan's visitor cap, with a team that edits the theme in-house.
- Brands planning a theme migration or redesign that want proof before switching everyone over.
- Teams testing homepage and product page sections. Dave Diederen's homepage hero redesign lifted conversion rate +39.85% and revenue per visitor +72.15% (+$30,562/month). That is a template-level change of the kind Shoplift is built to test.
Not a good fit
- Stores not on Shopify. It is a Shopify-only app.
- High-traffic stores on a budget. Total-visitor pricing gets expensive fast. A September 2026 one-star review called the session-based pricing "several times what comparable tools charge" (App Store reviews).
- Stores whose main lever is price or shipping. Price tests start on Advanced, and shipping-rate tests are not on the plan list.
- Low-traffic stores. With few orders a month, most tests will not reach a clear result on any tool.
The low-rated reviews are few but worth reading. Besides pricing, they mention bugs that blocked one merchant's split test, a dashboard outage in 2024, and a merchant who said a private support email was used in Shoplift's LinkedIn marketing without permission (App Store reviews).
Shoplift alternatives
The two alternatives most Shopify teams compare against are Intelligems and Convert. Prices are as of November 2026.
| Tool | Starting price | How usage is counted | Strongest at | Not for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shoplift | $99/month | Total monthly store visitors | Theme and template tests | High-traffic stores on a budget; non-Shopify sites |
| Intelligems | From $69/month | Monthly orders; unlimited visitors | Price, shipping and checkout tests | Teams that only need simple content tests |
| Convert | $399/month, or $299/month billed annually | Tested users (100,000/month) | Any platform; privacy; flexible targeting | Small stores wanting a Shopify-native, no-code setup |
Intelligems prices by orders rather than visitors and sells modules for content, pricing, shipping and checkout. Its 14-day trial excludes the pricing module (Intelligems pricing). Josh Thompson ran a new page design against the existing page in Intelligems and saw +137.26% conversion rate. Read our Intelligems review or the head-to-head Intelligems vs Shoplift.
Convert works on Shopify and any other site, counts only tested users, and offers a 15-day free trial with no credit card (Convert pricing). It costs more to start, and you build variants in its editor or with code rather than in the Shopify theme editor. See our Convert review.
For the wider field, see our roundups of Shopify A/B testing apps and A/B testing tools.
Bottom line: pick Shoplift if theme and template testing is your main need and your traffic sits within a plan's cap. Pick Intelligems if price and shipping tests come first. Pick Convert if you need to test beyond Shopify or want to pay only for tested traffic.
