Convert Review: Is Convert Experiences Right for Your Store?

Convert (sold as Convert Experiences) is a good A/B testing tool for a store doing roughly 100,000 or more monthly visitors that wants strict privacy controls and a choice of stats engines. Paid plans start at $299 a month billed yearly as of November 2026, so it is too expensive for small stores still finding product-market fit. On Shopify it tests your theme pages well, but like other tools it cannot test inside Shopify's checkout.

We have not used Convert ourselves. This review is based on Convert's own pricing page, help docs and Shopify listing. It also draws on real store tests from our database of A/B test results, to show what you would actually be running with it.

Convert plans and pricing

Convert has three plans. All prices below are from Convert's pricing page as of November 2026.

PlanMonthly billingAnnual billingTested usersProjects / domainsKey extras
Growth$399/mo$299/mo ($3,588/yr)100K/month5 projects, 10 domainsA/B and split URL tests, advanced targeting, heatmaps, QA Wizard
Pro$599/mo$420/mo ($5,040/yr)100K/month30 projects, unlimited domainsMultivariate, multi-page, full stack and feature flags, sequential testing, phone support
EnterpriseAnnual onlyPrice on request1M+/monthUnlimitedData segregation, SSO, account manager, SLA

Both paid plans come with a 15-day free trial and no credit card. If you go over your tested-user limit, Growth charges $399 per extra 100K users and Pro charges $699 per extra 250K.

The 100K tested-user cap matters more than the price. A store with 300K monthly visitors can't test all of its traffic on Growth without paying overage. So you either test a share of traffic or limit tests to key pages. Run your numbers through the A/B test sample size calculator before you pick a plan.

Lower traffic is a real problem for small lifts. When Dave Diederen increased PDP font size by 4px for an older audience, the result was +4.17% revenue per visitor. A lift that small needs a lot of visitors to detect with confidence. If your store can't reach that, read our guide to A/B testing with low traffic before paying for any tool.

Features

The core features are on every plan: a visual editor, a code editor, A/B tests and split URL (redirect) tests. Convert says it has 100+ integrations, including GA4, Shopify, Mixpanel and Segment. It can also send experiment data to Heatmap.com.

Stats engines

Convert's statistics stand out for a tool at this price. Its help docs list a frequentist engine (t-tests, one- or two-tailed, Bonferroni or Sidak corrections) and a Bayesian engine with 90%, 95% or 99% decision thresholds. Pro adds sequential testing, which lets you check results as they come in while still controlling false positives.

That matters because early results lie. Rubendgrf added a doctor endorsement badge and saw +17% after week one, but it settled at +1.66% CVR (flat) after four weeks. Without sequential testing or a fixed sample size, a team could have shipped the badge as a big win. Our guide to Bayesian vs frequentist testing explains which engine to pick.

Some practitioners report results the Bayesian way. Kasper Dolk's testimonial test showed +7.22% profit per visitor at a 94.4% probability to beat control.

Split URL and multi-page tests

Split URL tests are on Growth, and multi-page tests need Pro. Stores use these for bigger changes. Oliver Kenyon found a landing page rebuilt natively in Shopify beat the same page in a page builder by +9.9% conversion rate. Kasper Dolk's site-wide navigation test produced a +€127,112 revenue lift at 90% confidence, which is the kind of change that spans every page.

Privacy and flicker

Privacy

Privacy is Convert's main selling point. It lists compliance with GDPR, CCPA, LGPD and TTDSG, plus SOC 2 attestation and ISO 27001 certification.

The consent docs describe two setups. You can delay cookies only, so visitors still see experiments right away. Or you can block both cookies and experiments until consent, which means zero data collection but may cause content to flash once consent is given. You can also apply the strict mode to EU visitors only.

This is useful for stores selling into Europe, where results often differ from the US. Dave Diederen saw a countdown timer lose -35.61% RPV in a European market, while a similar order-reserved timer for US brands won +9.50% CVR. Testing by region needs clean, consented data from each region.

The tradeoff: if you block experiments until consent, visitors who ignore your banner never enter the test. That shrinks your sample, so tests take longer.

Flicker

Flicker is when shoppers briefly see the original page before the variant loads. It can bias results, especially for small visual changes. Convert's docs say the script should load synchronously in the page head to prevent flicker. An async option exists for page speed, and it uses a body-hiding method to reduce flashing.

So you choose between no flicker and a script that holds up page loading. Neither option is free. Check your Core Web Vitals after install either way.

Shopify integration

Convert has an official Shopify app, launched October 25, 2024. It is free to install but needs a paid Convert account. The app adds the tracking script without editing theme files.

Per Convert's app upgrade post, it tracks revenue without relying on the order confirmation page. It uses Shopify Pixels and order webhooks to capture standard events like cart views, add to cart and removals.

Two downsides stand out. First, Convert says checkout A/B testing isn't currently possible because of Shopify's Checkout Extensibility rules. Convert says this applies to all testing tools. Second, the Shopify listing showed no reviews yet when we checked, so there's little public feedback from merchants on the app itself.

The checkout limit is a real loss, because checkout tests can be large. Dave Diederen saw +3.16% RPV (+$139,029/month est.) after adding a countdown timer to checkout, and +17.96% CVR from showing customer reviews on the checkout page. You can still test the cart, which sits before checkout. See our checkout tests for ideas.

The Convert docs we read don't describe native Shopify price or shipping-rate testing. That matters if you want to run tests like Dave Diederen's shipping price test, where a $9.49 fee gave +43.81% RPV. For that, look at Shopify-native apps in our Shopify A/B testing apps roundup.

Who Convert fits, and who it doesn't

Convert fits:

  • Stores and brands with enough traffic to fill 100K tested users a month, and a budget for $299 to $599 a month.
  • Brands selling into the EU that need consent-based testing they can document.
  • Teams who care about statistics and want to choose Bayesian, frequentist or sequential methods.
  • Agencies running tests for several clients, since Pro allows 30 projects.

Convert is not for:

  • Small stores with low traffic. You will pay for a tool your traffic can't use well.
  • Stores mainly wanting price, shipping or checkout tests on Shopify.
  • Teams with no one to write or check code. The visual editor helps, but bigger tests usually need a developer.
  • Anyone needing multivariate or multi-page tests on a Growth budget, since those are Pro features.
