Best Shopify Review Apps for Conversion

For most Shopify stores, Judge.me is the best reviews app to start with: its free plan collects unlimited photo and video reviews, and the paid plan is $15 a month. Pick Loox if photo and video reviews are the center of your product pages, Okendo if you want reviews tied to loyalty and deeper customization, and Yotpo if you are a larger brand that wants reviews inside a wider marketing suite.

The app matters less than how you place the reviews. Our database of real ecommerce A/B tests shows the same review widget winning or losing depending on where it sits and what it says. So this guide covers the four main apps first, then what the tests show about using them.

A note on method: we have not run these apps ourselves. The plan details below come from each app's Shopify App Store listing, checked as of November 2026, and the conversion findings come from tests in our product page review tests.

Loox: built around photo and video reviews

Loox focuses on visual reviews. According to its Shopify App Store listing, the free plan covers up to 500 orders and includes review request emails, discounts for photo reviews, 17+ widgets and Google rich snippets.

The Convert plan costs $49.99 a month as of November 2026, with 300 orders included and $50 per additional 300 orders. It adds video reviews, AI sorting and summaries, translations, bundle reviews, referrals and syndication to Google, Meta and TikTok. An Unlimited plan costs $299.99 a month. Paid plans have a 14-day free trial.

Downsides: video reviews sit on the paid plan, and the per-order pricing climbs as you grow. A store doing 1,500 orders a month pays well above the entry price.

Who it is not for: text-heavy categories where customers rarely take photos, such as supplements or software add-ons, get less from the visual focus.

Judge.me: the most features for the money

Judge.me is the most-reviewed app in this group, with a 5.0 rating from 49,427 merchant reviews on its App Store listing. Its Forever Free plan includes unlimited product and store reviews, unlimited photo and video reviews, a review widget, star rating badges and carousels.

The Awesome plan is $15 a month as of November 2026, with a 15-day free trial. It adds AI replies and summaries, 130+ integrations including Klaviyo and Gorgias, auto-reminders, coupons, Google Shopping and Meta and TikTok Shop sync. The price does not scale with order volume, which makes it predictable for growing stores.

Downsides: with so many options, the default widgets can look generic until you style them, and some of the default behaviors are worth testing rather than accepting (see the star rating test below).

Who it is not for: brands that want a dedicated onboarding team and hands-on design help may prefer Okendo or Yotpo. For a head-to-head, see Loox vs Judge.me.

Okendo: reviews plus loyalty for growing brands

Okendo pairs reviews with loyalty features. Per its App Store listing, the free plan covers up to 50 orders a month with review requests, review rewards, displays and SEO snippets.

As of November 2026, Essential is $19 a month for up to 200 orders, Growth is $119 a month for up to 1,500 orders and adds AI summaries, a Q&A widget and TikTok Shop integration, and Power is $299 a month for up to 3,500 orders with a CSS editor, email and SMS integrations and managed onboarding. Paid plans include a 14-day trial.

Downsides: the jump from Essential to Growth is large, and features like the Q&A widget and AI summaries sit on the $119 tier.

Who it is not for: small stores that only need stars and written reviews will pay more here than with Judge.me for similar basics.

Yotpo: reviews inside a larger marketing suite

Yotpo's App Store listing shows a free plan for up to 50 monthly orders, a Starter plan from $15 a month and a Pro plan from $119 a month as of November 2026. Both paid plans adjust their price based on order volume.

Starter adds photo and video collection, Google rich snippets and a reviews carousel. Pro adds Google Seller Ratings, custom questions, AI summaries and smart sorting. Yotpo also sells loyalty, SMS and other products, so it suits brands that want one vendor for several retention tools.

Downsides: pricing depends on order volume, so the listed numbers are starting points, and Google Seller Ratings require the Pro tier.

Who it is not for: new stores that just need a review widget. The free and Starter plans are limited compared with Judge.me's free plan.

Photo and video reviews: what they add

All four apps collect photos and video, but how they gate it differs. Judge.me includes unlimited visual reviews on its free plan, Yotpo starts photo and video collection on Starter, and Loox puts video reviews on its paid Convert plan.

Our tests suggest video is worth the effort when the content does a sales job. Dave Diederen saw +5.80% conversion rate and +6.26% revenue per visitor after adding customer video reviews to the PDP. In Dave's experience, the winning videos open with the customer's problem, show the product in use and handle one objection.

A separate test by Dave Diederen added a UGC customer video section to the PDP and saw +4.91% conversion rate and +7.11% revenue per visitor. Another moved three UGC videos above the fold for an estimated +$85,124 a month.

Video does not replace written reviews, though. When Dave Diederen replaced written reviews with only product videos, the test lost: -2.00% conversion rate and -1.60% revenue per visitor. Written reviews handle objections that videos skip. More on this in our UGC and video guide.

What the review tests show

Whichever app you pick, its default layout is a starting point, not a finished design. These tests from our database show where reviews help and where they get in the way. For the wider picture, see our reviews element page and social proof guide.

Put a rating near the title

Dave Diederen saw +8.14% conversion rate and +8.45% revenue per visitor by adding a star rating and review count directly above the product title. Another test that moved the review stars above the product title was worth an estimated +$855,804 a year.

It is not automatic. When Dave Diederen placed a review rating above the product title for another brand, conversion rate did not change. Dave's take: if trust is not the main objection, moving the widget higher will not do much.

Stop the stars from jumping to the bottom

This one applies directly to app settings. Dave Diederen notes that most review apps, naming Judge.me, Loox and Okendo, link the star rating near the title to the review section at the bottom of the page by default. Making the stars static instead lifted revenue per visitor by +1.36% and AOV by +1.91%, with no conversion rate change.

One written review beats a wall of them

Dave Diederen saw +6.40% conversion rate and +7.45% revenue per visitor by adding a single written review above the fold on a 7-figure Shopify brand's PDP, worth an estimated +$47k a month.

But full written review blocks above the fold tend to hurt. Across multiple brands, Dave Diederen found that hiding written reviews above the fold raised conversion rate in 8 of 10 tests, with +13.36% conversion rate and +23.05% revenue per visitor in the reported test. Long reviews pull attention from price, variants and the add-to-cart button.

Oliver Kenyon got a similar result by placing reviews with a purpose: an objection-handling review block below the CTA on mobile, built from post-purchase survey answers, added an estimated +$63,735 a month.

Use reviews past the product page

Most apps focus on the PDP, but reviews also work later in the funnel. Dave Diederen saw +17.96% conversion rate and +23.13% revenue per visitor by showing customer reviews on the checkout page.

Skip decoration that adds no meaning

Not every widget option helps. Adding small customer profile icons next to the star rating lost: -1.90% conversion rate and -3.84% revenue per visitor in Dave Diederen's test. And on a listicle, replacing the Trustpilot logo with plain stars and "Rated 4.8/5.0 by 50,000+ customers" raised conversion rate by 7.8%. Shoppers respond to the message, not the review platform's logo.

How to choose

  • New or growing store: start with Judge.me's free plan, then move to the $15 plan when you need integrations.
  • Visual products where customers share photos: Loox, accepting that cost rises with orders.
  • Brand that wants reviews and loyalty from one vendor: Okendo.
  • Larger brand already using Yotpo tools, or needing Google Seller Ratings in the same app: Yotpo Pro.

Then test the placement. Because the same widget can win or lose depending on position, run changes through an A/B testing tool. Our list of Shopify A/B testing apps covers the options, and our social proof tests give you ideas to try first.

Questions

What is the best Shopify reviews app?

For most stores, Judge.me offers the most for the money: unlimited photo and video reviews on its free plan and a $15/month paid plan as of November 2026. Loox suits visual brands, Okendo suits brands that want loyalty too, and Yotpo suits larger brands using its wider suite.

Is Judge.me free on Shopify?

Yes. Judge.me's Forever Free plan includes unlimited product and store reviews, photo and video reviews, and a review widget. The Awesome plan adds AI features, integrations and Google Shopping for $15/month as of November 2026.

How much does Loox cost?

As of November 2026, Loox has a free plan for up to 500 orders, a Convert plan at $49.99/month with 300 orders included and $50 per additional 300 orders, and an Unlimited plan at $299.99/month.

Do product reviews increase conversion rate on Shopify?

Often, but placement matters. In our database, a star rating above the product title lifted conversion rate 8.14% and reviews on checkout lifted it 17.96%, while full written reviews above the fold lowered conversion in 8 of 10 tests run by Dave Diederen.

Should I use video reviews instead of written reviews?

Use both. Customer video reviews raised conversion rate 5.80% in one test, but replacing written reviews with only videos lost 2.00% conversion rate, because written reviews handle objections videos skip.
