Fairing Review: Post-Purchase Attribution Surveys for Shopify

Fairing is a Shopify post-purchase survey app built around one question: "How did you hear about us?"

It suits direct-to-consumer brands that spend on several channels and want a self-reported attribution signal next to their pixel data.

Our verdict: it's a strong pick if attribution is the main job and you sell on Shopify, but it costs more than some rivals as order volume grows, and stores with very few orders can get by on the free tier or a cheaper tool.

We haven't used Fairing ourselves. This review is based on Fairing's own site and docs, its Shopify App Store listing, and public reviews.

What Fairing does

Fairing shows a short survey on the order confirmation page right after checkout.

Fairing says it helps brands learn "how they found you, why they bought and what almost stopped them, right after checkout."

The product lineup on its homepage covers attribution surveys, Question Stream (its question engine), NPS surveys, a Fairing MCP server and an integrations layer.

The Shopify listing also mentions AI-generated attribution insights, LTV analysis against survey answers, multi-language translations and an API/MCP that is in beta.

The main use is attribution. Pixel tracking misses podcasts, word of mouth, influencers and offline ads.

A "How did you hear about us?" answer fills that gap, and Fairing ties each answer to an order so you can compare channels by revenue.

Where it fits in a CRO program

Post-purchase surveys are also a research tool. Questions like "What almost stopped you from buying?" surface the objections and reasons that make good test hypotheses.

That's the research, then hypothesis, then A/B test loop we cover in our customer research guide.

Tests in our database show what that looks like.

The surveys behind them aren't credited to Fairing; we cite them to show the kind of work this research supports.

More examples are on our post-purchase surveys element page and in the product page tests that used survey research.

EnquireLabs is now Fairing

If you're searching for EnquireLabs or Enquire Labs, it's the same product.

The company launched as EnquireLabs and later rebranded as Fairing.

Partner docs such as Triple Whale's integration guide still call it "Fairing (formerly EnquireLabs)."

The old name also survives in the Shopify App Store, where the original "enquire" listing URL now points to the Fairing app.

The listing says the app first launched on May 7, 2018.

Fairing pricing

Fairing prices by monthly orders (transactions), not by survey responses.

As of November 2026, its pricing page lists:

  • Free: $0/month for 0-200 transactions a month.
  • Core: $49/month for 201-500 transactions, with a 14-day free trial and no credit card required.
  • Enterprise: custom pricing for 30,000+ transactions, with 25+ integrations, a dedicated Slack channel, a dedicated CSM and quarterly business reviews. It's contact-sales only.
  • Advanced Attribution add-on: from $99/month, adding adaptive follow-ups on every "How did you hear about us?" answer.

The Shopify listing shows more of the ladder: $99/month for 501-1,000 orders and $149/month for 1,001-5,000 orders, both with a 14-day trial.

Fairing doesn't publish prices between 5,000 and 30,000 orders, so check with them before you grow into that range.

One pricing warning comes from the reviews. The app has a 5.0 rating from 196 reviews on Shopify.

The one 1-star review, from Orlando Informer in September 2024, complained about a sudden price increase and losing data access.

Fairing replied publicly and admitted the change was handled poorly.

It's a single review, but it's a reason to read the terms before you rely on the data long term.

Question types and reporting

According to Fairing's question docs, Question Stream supports six types:

  • Single response
  • Multi-response
  • Open-ended
  • Date response (month/day or full date, which can feed Klaviyo birthday flows)
  • Net Promoter Score (0-10 with custom labels)
  • Auto suggest (a text field that matches answers against a list you upload)

Response clarification adds a two-step follow-up to single-response and NPS questions, so a "Podcast" answer can lead to "Which podcast?"

The first answer is saved even if the customer skips the follow-up.

Fairing also documents randomized answer order, which reduces bias toward options at the top of the list.

For reporting, each question shows responses, views and response rate.

NPS questions add counts and percentages of detractors, passives and promoters plus the overall score.

The Shopify listing names integrations with Klaviyo, Google Sheets, Shopify Flow, Meta, Triple Whale, Checkout Extensions, Customer Accounts and Shopify POS, and Fairing's homepage adds TikTok, GA4 and Segment.

Downsides and who it's not for

  • Shopify-first. The native placement is built for Shopify checkout. Other platforms need custom work.
  • Attribution-led. It's built for post-purchase questions. If you need on-site polls, exit-intent surveys or research with people who didn't buy, you'll need another tool.
  • Cost climbs with orders. You pay for order volume even if most customers skip the survey, and pricing above 5,000 orders isn't public.
  • Self-reported data has limits. Customers misremember, and survey answers only cover buyers. Treat them as one signal next to your analytics, not a replacement for it.

Fairing isn't for non-Shopify stores, lead-gen or SaaS sites, or teams whose main need is pre-purchase research.

Fairing alternatives

The closest rivals are other Shopify post-purchase survey apps.

Prices below are from each app's Shopify listing as of November 2026.

KnoCommerce is Fairing's most direct competitor. Its listing shows Starter at $19/month, Analyst at $119/month and Pro at $299/month, with survey and question limits by plan.

See our KnoCommerce review and the head-to-head KnoCommerce vs Fairing comparison.

Zigpoll charges by responses instead of orders and covers more survey placements.

Its listing shows Standard at $39/month for 200 responses, Advanced at $129/month for 600 and Premier at $399/month for unlimited. Read our Zigpoll review.

For a wider view, see our roundup of post-purchase survey apps, plus website survey tools for on-site polls and customer research tools for interviews and message testing.

A survey tool only collects the answers. If you want help turning them into tests that win, a practitioner who has done it can shorten the path.

The bottom line

Fairing is worth it for Shopify brands where "Which channels actually drive sales?" is the big open question.

Setup is light, the free tier covers small stores, and the attribution features go further than a basic survey form.

If you want cheaper entry pricing, benchmarks or surveys outside the thank-you page, compare KnoCommerce and Zigpoll first.
