Zigpoll Review: On-Site and Post-Purchase Surveys for Shopify

Zigpoll is a low-cost survey app for Shopify stores that want post-purchase, on-site, email and SMS surveys in one place.

Our verdict: it's a good pick for small and mid-size stores that want cheap attribution and "why did you buy" answers, but brands that need benchmarks and deep attribution reporting should look at KnoCommerce or Fairing, and high-volume stores may prefer a flat-price app.

We haven't used Zigpoll ourselves. This review is based on Zigpoll's own site, its documentation, its Shopify App Store listing and public reviews.

What Zigpoll does: on-site, post-purchase and email surveys

Zigpoll's homepage pitches the product as a way to "know exactly why customers buy, and why they don't."

It lists post-purchase, exit-intent, attribution, NPS, on-site pop-up, email and SMS surveys.

Shopify is the main platform, but Zigpoll also supports WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, a generic embed code, Google Tag Manager and native iOS and Android SDKs, per the same page.

The Shopify App Store listing says merchants can "run post-purchase surveys on your thank-you and order status pages, plus exit-intent, product page, email, SMS and Shopify POS surveys."

It also lists "How did you hear about us?" attribution surveys, AI analysis of open-ended answers, NPS and CSAT, weekly insight reports, and revenue and AOV by marketing channel.

Listed integrations include Shopify Flow, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Gorgias, Google Analytics and Google Sheets.

The homepage adds Zapier, HubSpot and others, plus an AI assistant and an MCP server for asking questions about your data in Claude or ChatGPT.

The listing shows a 5.0 rating from 601 reviews and a launch date of April 23, 2019. The developer is Argonautic Labs.

Where Zigpoll fits in CRO

For attribution, a post-purchase survey fills gaps that pixels miss, such as podcasts and word of mouth.

For CRO, the more useful questions are "What almost stopped you from buying?" and "What nearly made you leave?"

Those answers become test hypotheses. That's the research, then hypothesis, then A/B test loop in our customer research guide.

The tests below aren't credited to Zigpoll. We cite them because they show what survey answers can turn into once you test them:

The last result is the point of testing.

A survey tells you what customers say worries them; an A/B test tells you whether fixing it changes behavior.

Zigpoll pricing

Zigpoll charges by survey responses per month. As of November 2026, its pricing page lists these monthly plans:

PlanPrice per month, billed annuallyResponses per monthEmails / SMS per month
LiteFree50100 / 5
Standard$29 ($39 billed monthly)2002,500 / 250
Premium$593505,000 / 500
Advanced$99 ($129 billed monthly)60010,000 / 1,000
Growth$1491,00025,000 / 2,000
Scale$1992,00040,000 / 3,000
Premier$299 ($399 billed monthly)Unlimited50,000 / 4,000
EnterpriseCustomUnlimitedAdds SSO, data warehouse sync and managed research

These are annual-billing rates, which are 25% cheaper than paying monthly.

Every plan, including Lite, has unlimited surveys and team members, and the Lite plan needs no credit card.

Two things to check before you pick a plan:

  • Shopify shows monthly prices. The Shopify App Store listing leads with monthly-billing prices, such as Standard at $39/month and Premier at $399/month, with yearly options that work out close to the rates above. Zigpoll's billing docs explain that Shopify installs are billed through Shopify, while accounts created on Zigpoll's own site are billed by card.
  • Hitting the cap pauses your surveys. Per the same docs, once you reach your monthly limit, surveys stop showing until usage resets on the 1st of the month or you upgrade. There's no overage charge. A response is one person taking one survey, however many questions they answer, per Zigpoll's response counting docs.

The cap is the main cost trade-off. If half of a store's 1,500 monthly buyers answered, it would need about 750 responses, which puts it on Growth at $149/month billed annually. Grapevine, by contrast, charges one flat price.

Setting up Zigpoll on Shopify

Zigpoll's installation docs say no code is needed on Shopify.

The catch is that your storefront and your checkout are separate installs, and turning on one does nothing for the other.

  1. Install the app from the Shopify App Store.
  2. Storefront surveys: switch on the Zigpoll App Embed in your theme for pop-ups, exit-intent and product page surveys.
  3. Thank-you page survey: create a survey with the "Thank You & Order Status" delivery method, then in Shopify go to Settings, Checkout, Customize, select the Thank you page and add the Zigpoll app block. Repeat for the Order status page if you want it there too.
  4. Email surveys: set the delivery format to Email and pick a trigger such as Order Paid, Order Fulfilled or Order Delivered, with a delay.
  5. Go live and test with a real order.

The steps above follow Zigpoll's post-purchase survey tutorial.

The docs warn against the old "order status page additional scripts" method on upgraded Shopify checkouts.

Expect design limits on checkout pages. Zigpoll's Shopify checkout limits page says surveys on the Thank You, Order Status and checkout pages can't be pop-ups, and they ignore your Zigpoll design settings, taking colors and fonts from Shopify's checkout branding instead.

This applies to every app, not just Zigpoll.

The email trigger options are a real strength.

Asking after delivery lets you ask about the product itself, not just the buying decision, which the thank-you page can't do.

Downsides and who Zigpoll is not for

  • Response caps. Surveys pause when you hit your limit, so a sales spike can cut off data mid-month unless you size your plan with room to spare.
  • Thinner benchmarks. Zigpoll doesn't advertise the cross-brand benchmarking that KnoCommerce sells on its Analyst and Pro plans.
  • Confusing price lists. Zigpoll's site leads with annual-billing rates and the Shopify App Store with monthly ones, which makes comparing costs harder than it should be.
  • Checkout styling. Thank-you page surveys look like Shopify, not your brand, though this is a Shopify limit.

Zigpoll is not the best fit for SaaS or lead-gen teams that need in-product surveys tied to user events, or for teams that want qualitative interviews.

Those teams should look at our website survey tools roundup or the wider list of customer research tools.

KnoCommerce. Its pricing page lists Starter at $19/month (one live survey, three questions, no integrations), Analyst at $119/month and Pro at $299/month.

Benchmarking, trend reports and the order attribution report come with Analyst and Pro. See our KnoCommerce review.

Fairing. Its pricing page shows a free plan for 0-200 transactions a month, Core at $49/month for 201-500 transactions, and custom Enterprise pricing, with Advanced Attribution as an add-on from $99/month.

It is the most attribution-focused option. See our Fairing review or KnoCommerce vs Fairing.

Grapevine. Its pricing page lists one $25/month plan with unlimited surveys and responses and a 14-day free trial.

That beats Zigpoll on cost once you need more than the free plan's 50 responses a month, though you do your own analysis.

Verdict

Zigpoll is a sensible first survey app for a Shopify store.

The free plan covers a small store, and paid tiers bundle email and SMS sends with the survey responses.

Pick KnoCommerce or Fairing if attribution reporting is the main job, and Grapevine if you want unlimited responses at a flat price.

Whichever tool you use, the value comes from turning answers into tests.
