Choose Intelligems if you mainly want to test prices, discounts, free shipping thresholds and shipping rates, and you care about profit per visitor. Choose Shoplift if you mainly want to test themes, templates and page content through the Shopify theme editor, with price testing as an add-on. Both are Shopify-only apps that use Bayesian statistics, so the right pick comes down to what you plan to test first.
We have not used either tool ourselves. This comparison draws on each vendor's pricing pages, documentation and Shopify App Store listings, plus real tests from our database of ecommerce A/B test results. For deeper single-tool write-ups, see our Intelligems review and Shoplift review.
What each tool tests: prices, shipping, content and themes
The two apps overlap more than they used to. The table shows where each one is strongest, based on the vendors' own docs.
| Test type | Intelligems | Shoplift |
|---|---|---|
| Product price tests | Yes, core feature (Smart Pricing module) | Yes, on Advanced and Pro plans only |
| Discounts, BOGO, free gifts, volume pricing | Yes (Smart Merchandising) | Not a listed test type |
| Free shipping threshold | Yes, any Shopify plan | Possible with a custom Shopify Function |
| Shipping rate tests | Yes, needs Shopify Advanced or Plus | Possible with a custom Shopify Function |
| Theme and template tests | Yes (Smart Content) | Yes, core feature, built in the theme editor |
| Copy, images, landing page redirects | Yes | Yes (template and URL split tests) |
| Checkout tests | Yes, needs Shopify Plus | Not a listed test type |
| Post-purchase upsells | Yes, any Shopify plan | Not a listed test type |
Intelligems groups its features into modules: Content, Merchandising, Pricing, Shipping, Checkout and Post-Purchase, according to its "what you can test" docs. Shoplift lists theme tests, template tests, URL redirect tests, price tests and a JavaScript API for custom tests in its documentation.
Shipping is the clearest gap. Intelligems treats shipping as a built-in module. Shoplift's shipping threshold guide has you set up two shipping methods in Shopify and write a Shopify Function that reads the visitor's test group from the cart. That is developer work.
Why price and shipping tests are worth the effort
Price and shipping tests often move revenue more than layout tweaks. Dave Diederen saw +43.81% revenue per visitor when a $9.49 shipping fee beat the control. In another store, Dave Diederen raised the free shipping threshold to $165 and saw +6.27% profit per visitor.
Charging for shipping does not always lose sales either. Dave Diederen removed a free shipping threshold and charged shipping on every order for +9.17% RPV. Tests like these need real checkout rates to change, which is the kind of test Intelligems is built around.
On pricing, Oliver Kenyon lowered a price and removed a free gift ($82 vs $85 plus gift) and measured +$43k/month. An Elevate A/B Testing test that cut the price by 30% produced a 2x conversion rate. Whether a cut like that pays off depends on your margin, which is why profit reporting matters.

Where theme tests win
Theme tests are Shoplift's home ground. Kasper Dolk tested a new theme with a BOGO offer against the old theme and saw +44.54% conversion rate at a 99.7% probability to beat the old theme. Testing a full theme against your live one before you switch is the main reason many stores install Shoplift.
The build method matters too. Oliver Kenyon rebuilt a landing page natively in Shopify instead of a page builder and saw +9.9% conversion rate. Both tools can run that kind of template or redirect test.
Pricing
As of November 2026, the two tools price very differently. Intelligems charges by monthly orders and by the modules you choose. Shoplift charges by monthly store visitors and by plan.
| Intelligems | Shoplift | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | From $69/month (Build Your Own, Smart Content, up to 10,000 orders/month) | Core: $99/month, or $74/month billed annually |
| What sets the price | Orders per month plus modules added | Visitors per month plus plan |
| Price testing included | Add the Smart Pricing module | Advanced or Pro plan only |
| Top tier | Unlimited: $2,894/month, or $1,279/month on annual billing, up to 200,000 orders/month | Pro: $699/month billed annually, up to 250k visitors/month |
| Free trial | 14 days, excludes Smart Pricing | 14 days on any plan |
Sources: Intelligems pricing and Shoplift pricing. Intelligems takes 5% off for two modules, 10% for three and 15% for four or more, and annual billing saves 20% on Build Your Own plans.
Check the final number at signup. Shoplift's App Store listing shows Advanced at $399/month and Pro at $999/month on monthly billing, which differs from the website's tier selector. Intelligems' App Store listing also shows different tier prices from its website.
In practice, a store that wants to test both prices and shipping on Intelligems needs at least two modules. A store that wants price tests on Shoplift has to move up from Core to Advanced.
Stats and reporting
Both tools use Bayesian statistics, so neither reports a classic p-value. Intelligems uses a Bayesian model with Monte Carlo simulations and shows "probability to beat control" and "probability to be best," according to its statistical significance docs. It also tells you to set a minimum number of visitors, orders and full weeks before you trust a result.
Shoplift reports a "Probability to Win" and only moves a test through stages (Leaning, High Confidence, Clear Winner) once that number holds for several days, per its test outcome docs. The App Store listing says reports cover conversion rate, RPV and AOV.
The bigger difference is profit. Intelligems lets you add cost of goods and shipping costs so results show gross profit per visitor. For price and discount tests, that is the number that tells you whether a "win" made money.
Our database shows why. Milos changed a 2-pack offer to "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" at the same price and lost 52.38% RPV, about -$104,679/month. Dave Diederen found that showing savings as a dollar amount instead of a percentage was net negative. Offer tests can swing hard either way, so judge them on revenue or profit, not conversion rate alone.
Whichever tool you pick, check you have enough traffic first. Bayesian reports still need enough orders to mean anything.
Ease of setup
Shoplift's pitch is no-code testing. Its install docs describe installation as "fully automated," and you build variants inside the Shopify theme customizer you already use. Public reviews on the App Store often praise the support team and how easy it is to use.
Shoplift's price tests take more work. Per its price testing docs, you add data attributes to your theme wherever prices appear. Price tests also only work on single-currency stores and not on products built with Replo, PageFly and several other page builders. Most subscription products are not supported either.
Intelligems content tests are also no-code, but its pricing page says price testing needs extra integration setup, which is why Smart Pricing is left out of the free trial. Checkout tests need Shopify Plus, and shipping rate tests need Shopify Advanced or Plus.
One more check: Shoplift's App Store listing calls it "a CRO platform for Shopify Plus." If you are on a lower Shopify plan, confirm support with Shoplift before you start a trial.
Verdict by store type
- Stores unsure about price or shipping: Intelligems. Price, discount and shipping tests are its core, and profit reporting tells you whether a lower price paid off.
- Stores planning a theme change or redesign: Shoplift. Theme and template tests built in the theme editor are its strongest feature.
- Small stores testing page content only: either works. Intelligems starts lower at $69/month; Shoplift Core is $74/month billed annually.
- Multi-currency stores wanting price tests: Intelligems lists multi-currency price testing on its Unlimited plan. Shoplift price tests are single-currency only.
- Shopify Plus stores wanting checkout tests: Intelligems, which lists checkout upsells, trust badges and progress bars.
Who Intelligems is not for: stores that only want theme tests, or small teams that would pay for modules they won't use. Who Shoplift is not for: stores whose main question is shipping, or stores that rely on PageFly or Replo product pages and want price tests.

Alternatives with affiliate programs
If neither app fits, or you want to test beyond Shopify, Convert is the main alternative. Its pricing page lists Growth at $399/month, or $299/month billed annually, for 100K tested users, with a 15-day free trial. The same page says all plans support Shopify price and shipping testing.
Convert is not for every store. It is a general A/B testing platform, so it is less tied to the Shopify theme editor, and its entry price is higher than either Shopify app. It suits teams that want one tool across Shopify and other sites. See our Convert review.
