Native Shopify landing page vs page builder: +20.9% revenue/visitor
Rebuilding a landing page natively in Shopify, instead of using a landing page builder, lifted revenue per visitor by 20.9% and conversion rate by 9.9%. Oliver Kenyon ran this test with identical copy, images, layout and offer on both sides. Average order value also rose by 10.0%.
- Revenue per visitor: +20.94% ($5.77 to $6.98), estimated at about $34,533 extra per month.
- Conversion rate: +9.99% (2.44% to 2.69%). The range ran from -11% to +37%, so the true effect is uncertain.
- Average order value: +9.96% ($236.18 to $259.71). Part of the revenue gain came from bigger orders.
- Profit per visitor: not shown, because cost data was not entered.
The change
Same page and content; only the build moves from a page builder to native Shopify.
Simplified mockup drawn by LiftArchive from the shared screenshots.
Control
A client's best-performing landing page, built with a third-party landing page builder.
Variant
The same page rebuilt natively in Shopify with Liquid and the Shopify CLI. Copy, images, structure and offer were unchanged; only the build differed.
Why it likely won
Our reading of the result, not the practitioner's claim.
- a native build is usually lighter and loads faster, which Oliver Kenyon points to as the main difference.
- faster, more responsive pages lose fewer visitors from paid traffic before they see the offer.
- the AOV lift is harder to explain by speed alone and may partly be noise, given the wide range.
Caveats: Sample size and test length were not shared, and the ranges are wide and cross zero. The page builder used was not named, and the test appears to target a European audience.

How to run this test on your store
- Hypothesis
- If we rebuild our winning landing page natively in Shopify, then more visitors will buy because the page loads faster and responds better than the builder version.
- Primary metric
- Revenue per visitor
- Guardrails
- Page load time
- Average order value
- Bounce rate
- Who should test it
- Shopify stores sending paid traffic to a proven page made in a landing page builder. It is less useful while you are still testing many new page ideas, where builders are faster to iterate with.
Questions
Do landing page builders slow down Shopify stores?
Oliver Kenyon's test suggests they can cost sales. The same page rebuilt natively in Shopify earned 20.9% more revenue per visitor.
Should I stop using a landing page builder?
Not entirely. Oliver Kenyon says builders are good for speed and testing, but suggests moving a proven winner into native Shopify.
What changed between the two landing pages?
Only the build. Copy, images, structure and offer were the same on both versions.
