VWO vs Convert: Which A/B Testing Tool Suits Your Store?

For most ecommerce stores, Convert is the easier pick if you want public pricing, a choice of stats engines and Shopify price or shipping tests on its Pro plan. VWO, now sold under the Wingify name, makes more sense if you want A/B testing, heatmaps, session recordings and surveys in one tool and don't mind requesting a quote. Both work on Shopify and most other platforms.

We have not used either tool ourselves. This comparison is based on each vendor's pricing pages and docs, checked in November 2026. Since neither tool shares test data publicly, we use real results from our test database to show which kinds of tests each feature lets you run.

Pricing: Convert publishes prices, VWO doesn't

As of November 2026, Convert's pricing page lists the Growth plan at $399/month, or $299/month billed annually. Pro is $599/month, or $420/month billed annually. That works out to $3,588 or $5,040 a year on annual billing. Both include 100K tested users a month, and Enterprise starts at 1M tested users with a custom price.

Going over your limit costs extra. Convert lists $399 per extra 100K tested users on Growth and $699 per extra 250K on Pro and Enterprise. There's a 15-day free trial with no credit card.

Wingify's pricing page lists Growth, Pro and Enterprise plans for VWO but shows no prices. To get a number, you start the 30-day free trial (no credit card, per Wingify's homepage) or book a demo. Growth is limited to one domain and one workspace, and Pro allows three.

The plan gap matters most on Shopify. Convert's price and shipping tests are only on Pro, which costs $121/month more than Growth on annual billing. That can be worth it. Dave Diederen tested shipping price levels and saw +43.81% revenue per visitor. Oliver Kenyon lowered the price and removed a free gift and found +$43k/month.

Features: one tests, the other tests and watches

Convert is built around testing. Every plan includes Shopify theme testing, heatmaps and sample ratio mismatch (SRM) checks, which flag a test when traffic doesn't split as planned. Multivariate and multi-page tests need Pro, or an add-on for multivariate on Growth.

VWO bundles more research tools. Per Wingify's pricing page, every plan includes the visual and code editor, multivariate testing, and unlimited heatmaps and session recordings. Form analytics is capped at 5 forms on Growth, and behavior data is kept for 1 month on Growth, 2 on Pro and 3 on Enterprise. Guardrail metrics and API access start on Pro.

Both tools have free-to-install Shopify apps, with the subscription billed separately. The Wingify Shopify app adds the tracking code and sends page views, cart actions and purchases to VWO, but it does not run on checkout and order pages. Convert's app installs the script through Shopify's API.

The Wingify app listing also says VWO loads flicker-free, meaning visitors shouldn't see the original page flash before the variant. That's the vendor's claim, not something we measured. Speed is worth checking in your own trial, since a slow testing script can drag down the very pages you're trying to improve.

Checkout limits matter because checkout tests can swing hard both ways. Dave Diederen saw +3.16% revenue per visitor from a checkout countdown timer, but a similar timer on another store lost 7.1% RPV. Kasper Dolk removed a checkout countdown timer and saw CVR +25.61% and RPV +26.18%. Before you buy either tool, ask the vendor how it handles your checkout.

Stats engines: choice vs. one tuned default

This is the biggest technical difference. According to Convert's help center, you can pick fixed-horizon frequentist (t-tests), sequential frequentist using asymptotic confidence sequences, or Bayesian. Sequential methods let you check results while the test runs without inflating false positives.

VWO uses one engine, SmartStats. Wingify's December 2024 update describes it as a Bayesian engine with sequential testing correction and Bonferroni correction for tests with several variants. You can set the minimum detectable effect, false positive rate and power, and it calls a variant ready to deploy at 95% probability of improvement.

The threshold matters. Kasper Dolk's test making hero store benefits expandable showed +€49,938/month at 93.45% confidence, just under a 95% bar. Kasper's new theme with a BOGO offer reached a 99.7% probability to beat the old theme, with +44.54% conversion rate. Both tools would report these results in different terms, but the decision you face is the same.

Results also vary by store, which is why sound stats matter more than the tool's dashboard. Ruben of Tailored Commerce tested a countdown timer across several brands and got about +10% CVR on a low-priced brand, a flat result on a high-priced brand and a 9% CVR loss on another. A single win on one store doesn't prove the idea works everywhere.

If your team already thinks in p-values, Convert lets you keep doing that. If you'd rather read "probability to beat control," VWO is built around it. See Bayesian vs. frequentist testing for the trade-offs, and work out the traffic you need before you start, whichever engine you use.

Support: humans at Convert, tiered SLAs at VWO

Convert's support options page lists in-app chat with a human, email, and web conferences arranged through the support team. Phone support is included on Pro and costs extra on Growth, per its pricing page. Convert doesn't publish response times there.

VWO publishes service levels instead. Growth and Pro get support 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, with 8-hour and 6-hour response times. Enterprise gets 24x7 support with a 4-hour response time.

One open question for VWO is the merger. Wingify's homepage now has a section on the AB Tasty and VWO merger, and vwo.com pages redirect to wingify.com. Plans and support could change as the two products combine, so check your contract terms before you sign a long deal.

Verdict: which one suits your store?

Choose Convert if you want to know the price up front, you want to test Shopify prices or shipping (on Pro), or your team cares which stats method it uses. It's also a fit for agencies running tests on several platforms.

Convert is not for a small store that only wants a simple theme test. $299/month billed annually is a lot at low traffic, and Shopify-native apps can be cheaper. Compare them in our Shopify A/B testing apps guide.

Choose VWO if you want heatmaps, recordings, form analytics and surveys next to your tests, and you'd rather pay for one tool than three. The 30-day trial is twice as long as Convert's.

VWO is not for buyers who need a public price to plan a budget, or stores whose main tests are prices and shipping rates. Teams wary of change during the AB Tasty merger may want to wait, too.

Whichever you pick, the tool matters less than what you test. Oliver Kenyon saw +9.9% conversion rate just by rebuilding a landing page natively in Shopify. Read our full Convert review, VWO review and the wider A/B testing tools roundup.

Questions

Is VWO or Convert better for ecommerce?

Convert suits stores that want public pricing, Shopify price and shipping tests (on Pro) and a choice of stats engines. VWO suits stores that want testing, heatmaps, recordings and surveys in one tool and are fine requesting a quote.
