Pick AppTweak if your main job is app store optimization: keyword research, rank tracking and metadata changes, with public prices from $79 a month.
Pick Sensor Tower if you need market intelligence across many apps, such as downloads, revenue, active users and ad spend, and you can sign a custom enterprise contract.
Most subscription app teams doing ASO are a better fit for AppTweak.
Analyst and publisher teams sizing up whole markets are a better fit for Sensor Tower.
We haven't used either tool ourselves. This comparison is built from each vendor's public pricing pages, product pages and press releases, all linked inline.
Where the discussion moves past the install, we point to real experiments from our database.
Data coverage: market intelligence vs store data
The biggest difference between the two tools is what they set out to measure.
Sensor Tower measures the app market. AppTweak measures how your app performs in the stores.
Sensor Tower
Sensor Tower's pricing page lists products well beyond ASO.
Its mobile app data covers downloads, revenue, active users, retention, ratings, impressions and top advertisers.
Other products cover digital ad spend and share of voice, audience insights, web traffic, PC and console games, and live ops for games.
The company has grown by buying competitors. In March 2024 it acquired data.ai, the former App Annie, and said the combined company served over 2,000 enterprise customers.
In May 2026 it acquired AppMagic as its offering for small and mid-sized businesses, including indie developers and small game studios.
AppTweak
AppTweak's ASO product page says it tracks millions of keywords in 100+ countries.
It also explains where the numbers come from.
App Store keyword volume comes from Apple's own metric.
Google Play doesn't publish search volume, so AppTweak models it. Treat the Android numbers as estimates.
AppTweak also sells Market Intelligence, with download and revenue estimates in 100+ countries, top-chart and publisher data, and revenue per download.
It has a free plan for startups and indie developers.
AppTweak describes the estimates as directionally accurate for benchmarking, not exact figures.
That page doesn't list active users, retention or ad spend, which is where Sensor Tower goes further.
Bottom line on data: if you need to know how many people use a rival app, or how much it spends on ads, Sensor Tower covers that and AppTweak doesn't advertise it.
If you need accurate iOS keyword volume tied to your own listing, AppTweak is built for that.
ASO features compared
Both tools handle the core ASO work: keyword research, rank tracking and competitor monitoring.
They differ in how much of the product is about ASO.
AppTweak's ASO plans are the main product. Its feature list includes daily rank tracking, competitor monitoring of metadata, creatives and A/B tests, AI metadata suggestions, impact reporting and Apple Ads campaign management.
Higher plans add organic installs per keyword (Grow) and creative intelligence (Expand). Our AppTweak review goes through each tier.
Sensor Tower's ASO tools sit inside its App Intelligence product.
Its own product blog describes Keyword Rankings tracking and a Keyword Overview chart in an App Store Optimization section.
Because it doesn't publish plan details, ask sales which ASO features your contract includes before you sign.
| Feature | AppTweak | Sensor Tower |
|---|---|---|
| Main focus | ASO and Apple Ads | Market, ad and audience intelligence |
| Keyword research and rank tracking | Yes, on every ASO plan | Yes, inside App Intelligence |
| Download and revenue estimates | Market Intelligence product (free plan available) | Yes, core product |
| Active users and retention | Not listed | Yes |
| Ad intelligence | Apple Ads competitor keywords on higher tiers | Yes, across ad networks |
| Public pricing | Yes | No, custom quotes |
| Free trial | 7 days | None listed |
Neither tool runs store listing tests for you.
On iOS, those run in App Store Connect through Apple's product page optimization, with up to three treatments against your original page.
Both tools help you decide what to test.
See our guides to product page optimization and custom product pages.
What happens after the install
Both tools stop at the install. For a subscription app, much of the revenue is decided after that, in onboarding and on the paywall.
The same ideas that help store listings, like localization and showing the product in action, also move paywall numbers.
Daily Horoscope reports a +183% trial start rate from paywalls localized by country.
It was a bundled change, vendor-reported by Superwall.
Stardust saw +67% paywall conversion and +12.5% proceeds per user from a video background paywall, also vendor-reported by Superwall.
Teaching.com got about +50% conversion to trial and about +30% conversion to paid by moving onboarding to the web before the download.
Rizz App saw +10% onboarding conversion and +10% trial conversion with two paywalls in onboarding (vendor-reported by Superwall).
Pixelcut got +16% paying customers by offering a weekly plan instead of monthly, as reported by RevenueCat.
That matters for budget. A $549-a-month ASO plan only pays off if the users it brings in convert.
Check our paywall guide and onboarding guide before you spend heavily on store data.
Pricing
AppTweak publishes its prices. Sensor Tower doesn't. All AppTweak figures below are from AppTweak's pricing page as of November 2026, for 5 apps.
Plans for 10 or 20 apps cost more.
| AppTweak ASO plan | Monthly | Billed annually | Keywords | Seats | History |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $79 | $949/yr | 500 | 1 | 6 months |
| Grow | $299 | $3,590/yr | 1,500 | 1 | 12 months |
| Expand | $549 | $6,590/yr | 3,000 | 1 | 24 months |
| Enterprise | Quote | Quote | Custom | Custom | All history |
Every self-serve plan has one seat. A team that needs several logins will likely end up talking to AppTweak sales anyway. Each plan has a 7-day free trial.
Sensor Tower's pricing page says it customizes pricing for each customer and asks you to get in touch.
It lists no free plan or trial. Expect a sales process and an annual contract sized for enterprise teams.
If you like Sensor Tower's data but not its contract size, ask about AppMagic, which Sensor Tower now positions for smaller businesses.
AppTweak vs App Radar
If price is the deciding factor, App Radar, owned by SplitMetrics, is the closer rival to AppTweak than Sensor Tower is.
Its pricing page lists, as of November 2026:
- Essentials: €69/mo, 2 apps, 500 keywords, 25 competitors, 1 seat.
- Growth: €169/mo, 10 apps, 1,500 keywords, 100 competitors, 2 seats.
- Scale: €299/mo, 15 apps, 3,000 keywords, 250 competitors, 5 seats.
At matching keyword limits, App Radar costs less and includes more seats on its middle and top plans.
AppTweak's Essential covers 5 apps against App Radar's 2. App Radar's 7-day trial requires a credit card.

Verdict: which fits your team
Choose AppTweak if:
- You run ASO for one or a few apps and want keyword data you can act on this week.
- You want to see the price before you talk to anyone, and start with a 7-day trial.
- You care most about iOS keyword volume, since AppTweak pulls it from Apple.
AppTweak is not for: teams that need active-user, retention or cross-network ad data on competitors, or teams of several people on a self-serve budget.
Choose Sensor Tower if:
- You need downloads, revenue, usage and ad spend across a whole category, not just your own listing.
- You work at a publisher, investor, agency or large brand that already budgets for enterprise data.
- You want ASO and market research in the same contract.
Sensor Tower is not for: indie developers and small subscription apps that mainly need keyword rankings.
You'll pay for data you won't use, and you can't see the price up front.
Many small teams need neither tool at first.
Apple Ads search popularity, App Store Connect and Google Play's store listing experiments are free.
Work through our ASO checklist, compare your numbers with app store conversion rate benchmarks, and buy a tool once keyword search is a real install channel.
If you'd rather hand off the work, ASO agencies often bring their own tool licenses.
