Booking page redesign with calendar above the fold: +119% bookings

WinnerSeveral changes tested togetherDemo request

A redesigned sales booking page, with a new headline, the calendar fully above the fold and added testimonials, lifted calendar time-slot clicks by about 119%.

The agency Convert Better ran this 30-day split URL test for High Voltage SEO, an SEO agency, and it was published as a VWO case study.

It was a full page redesign, so the lift can't be credited to any one change.

+119% bookings
  • Calendar time-slot clicks: +119% (reported as 118.76% more bookings). These clicks signal a sales appointment being booked.
  • Contact form submissions: 7 more than the original page. This is a small count, not a percentage.
  • The source says the booking page's desktop conversion rate more than doubled. Visitor numbers and confidence were not shared.

New headline, visible calendar and testimonials vs plain booking page

Simplified mockup drawn by LiftArchive from the shared screenshots.

Control

The booking page used the headline 'Book Your Call', a subheading, and a booking calendar that was only partly visible on screen.

Variant

The headline became 'Free SEO Strategy Session', with persuasive sales copy. The calendar sat fully above the fold, and testimonials and other social proof were added.

Why it likely won

Our reading of the result, not the practitioner's claim.

  • 'Book Your Call' asks for something. 'Free SEO Strategy Session' tells visitors what they get, and that it costs nothing.
  • A calendar that is fully visible makes the next step obvious. A half-hidden one is easy to miss.
  • Visitors were already engaged elsewhere on the site but dropped off here. Testimonials may have given them the trust they needed to book.

Caveats: This was a bundled full page redesign tested over 30 days, so it isn't clear which change mattered most. No sample size or significance was published, and the main metric was slot clicks, not completed meetings.

How to run this test on your site

Hypothesis
If we rename our booking call as a free session with a clear benefit, show the calendar fully above the fold and add testimonials, then more visitors will book because the value is clearer and the next step is visible.
Primary metric
Completed sales bookings per booking page visitor
Guardrails
  • Meeting show-up rate
  • Lead quality (qualified to sales)
  • Contact form submissions
Who should test it
Service businesses and agencies that sell through a sales call and see people drop off on the booking page. If your calendar is already fully visible and the call is clearly described, expect a smaller gain.

Questions

Should a booking calendar be above the fold?

If booking is the page's only job, the calendar should be easy to see without scrolling.

In this redesign it was one of several changes, so its exact effect is unknown.

Does calling a sales call a free session help?

Framing the call around what the visitor gets often reads better than a plain request to book.

Test it against your own wording, and watch whether show-up rates hold.

What is a split URL test?

It sends visitors to two different page URLs and compares them.

It suits full redesigns like this one, where many things change at once.
