'Ships by' date bar under add to cart: +13.48% revenue per visitor
Adding a slim shipping bar below the add to cart button lifted revenue per visitor by 13.48% and conversion rate by 11.34% in Dave Diederen's test. The bar showed a dispatch date on the left and a country flag with a fast local shipping note on the right. Average order value also edged up 1.92%.
- Revenue per visitor: +13.48% ($1.94 to $2.20). Each visitor brought in noticeably more money.
- Conversion rate: +11.34% (2.96% to 3.29%). More visitors placed an order.
- Profit per visitor: +12.95% ($1.26 to $1.42). The extra revenue was not eaten up by costs.
- Average order value: +1.92% ($65.64 to $66.90). Roughly flat, so the gain came from more orders.
- The ranges shown were wide (revenue per visitor anywhere from -10% to +44%), so the true lift could be much smaller than the headline.
The change
The variant adds a ships-by date and local shipping flag under the add to cart button.
Simplified mockup drawn by LiftArchive from the shared screenshots.
Control
The product page with no shipping bar under the add to cart button.
Variant
A grey bar under the button reading "Ships by" plus a specific date, with a green dot. On the right, a German flag sat next to the words "Fast DE Shipping", so the country shown matched the shopper's location.
Why it likely won
Our reading of the result, not the practitioner's claim.
- a concrete date answers "when will I get it?" right where the shopper decides, instead of leaving them to hunt for shipping terms.
- seeing their own country's flag tells shoppers the store ships to them and does it locally, which removes a worry about slow or costly cross-border delivery.
- the bar is small and sits below the button, so it adds reassurance without pushing the buy box down.
Caveats: Sample size, test length and statistical confidence were not shared, and the confidence ranges on every metric cross zero. Treat the size of the lift with caution.

How to run this test on your store
- Hypothesis
- If we show a specific ships-by date and a local shipping note under the add to cart button, then more visitors will buy because delivery timing and location stop being open questions.
- Primary metric
- Revenue per visitor
- Guardrails
- Average order value
- Late delivery complaints
- Refund rate
- Who should test it
- Stores that ship from local warehouses or sell across several countries and can calculate a real dispatch date. Skip it if you cannot hit the date reliably, since a missed promise costs more trust than it earns.
Questions
Should I show a shipping date on the product page?
In this test it paid off. A ships-by date under the add to cart button lifted conversion by 11.34% and revenue per visitor by 13.48%.
Where should shipping info go on a product page?
Dave Diederen placed it directly below the add to cart button, where the buying decision happens. Other placements were not tested here.
Does showing a country flag for shipping help?
It was part of the winning bar, paired with a "Fast DE Shipping" note. The test did not separate the flag from the date, so we can't say which part did more.
