Country shipping message and visible guarantee: +$52K/month
Showing country-specific free shipping copy and moving the money-back guarantee under the add-to-cart button added about $52K a month. Dave Diederen ran these two changes together for one brand, so the result can't be split between them. Conversion rate and other metrics were not shared.
- Revenue: about $52K extra a month, as reported in the post.
- Conversion rate, revenue per visitor and order value were not shared.
- The two changes ran together, so we can't tell how much each one contributed.
The change
Country shipping copy and the guarantee now sit under add to cart.
Simplified mockup drawn by LiftArchive from the shared screenshots.
Control
The page used generic shipping copy, and the money-back guarantee was tucked inside an FAQ accordion.
Variant
A flagged message like 'FREE US Wide Shipping' or 'FREE AU Wide Shipping' showed below add to cart, based on the visitor's country. Underneath, a box promised 30 days of free returns and noted that under 1% of customers ask for a refund.
Why it likely won
Our reading of the result, not the practitioner's claim.
- naming the visitor's country removes doubt about whether free shipping applies to them.
- a guarantee in plain sight under the button reassures shoppers right as they decide. In an accordion, most never see it.
- the 'less than 1%' detail is a concrete number, which is more believable than a vague promise.
Caveats: Only a revenue estimate was shared, with no conversion data, sample size or test duration. Two changes were bundled, so their separate effects are unknown.

How to run this test on your store
- Hypothesis
- If we show free shipping copy for the visitor's country and place our money-back guarantee under add to cart, then more visitors will buy because two key doubts are answered at the decision point.
- Primary metric
- Revenue per visitor
- Guardrails
- Refund rate
- Average order value
- Shipping cost per order
- Who should test it
- Stores selling to several countries with a real free shipping offer and a guarantee they can back up. For cleaner learnings, test the two changes separately.
Questions
Where should a money-back guarantee go on a product page?
In this test it moved from an FAQ accordion to right under the add-to-cart button. Together with the shipping change, that added about $52K a month.
How do I show shipping messages by country on Shopify?
Dave Diederen used Shopify's geolocation to read the visitor's country code. The page then showed the matching flag and copy.
Is 'free worldwide shipping' weaker than a country-specific message?
Dave Diederen's view is that a generic message speaks to no one in particular. This test bundled two changes, so it doesn't isolate the shipping copy.
