Rewritten money-back guarantee section: +12.71% revenue per visitor
Rewriting the product page money-back guarantee section with a bold headline and benefit-led copy lifted revenue per visitor by 12.71%. Dave Diederen ran this as a three-way test, and the second guarantee version beat both the control and the first rewrite.
- Revenue per visitor: +12.71% (A$2.87 to A$3.23), estimated at about A$71,466 more per month.
- Conversion rate: +12.07% (4.29% to 4.80%), an estimated 1,014 more orders a month.
- Profit per visitor: +13.06% (A$2.18 to A$2.47), so the gain held up after costs.
- Average order value: no change (A$66.89 vs A$67.28). The lift came from more people buying, not bigger baskets.
- Guarantee V1 also beat control by about 8% on revenue per visitor, but V2 had the higher chance of being best (64% vs 30%).
The change
Same guarantee, rewritten with a bold headline and benefit copy
Simplified mockup drawn by LiftArchive from the shared screenshots.
Control
The product page used the store's original money-back guarantee section. The screenshots don't show its design or wording.
Variant
The winning version (Guarantee V2) rewrote the section with a bold headline and copy focused on the buyer's benefit. A separate first rewrite (Guarantee V1) also ran in the test.
Why it likely won
Our reading of the result, not the practitioner's claim.
- a bold headline gets the guarantee noticed. Many shoppers skim past a plain block of policy text.
- benefit-led copy explains what the shopper gets, which reduces the fear of a bad purchase.
- both rewrites beat the control, which suggests the original section was undersold rather than the wrong offer.
Caveats: The testing tool gave V2 an 89% chance of beating control, and the revenue per visitor range ran from -7% to +36%, so this isn't a clear-cut result. Sample size and duration were not shown, and the creative wasn't shared.

How to run this test on your store
- Hypothesis
- If we rewrite our guarantee section with a bold headline and benefit-led copy, then more visitors will buy, because the risk-free promise becomes easier to notice and believe.
- Primary metric
- Revenue per visitor
- Guardrails
- Refund rate
- Profit per visitor
- Average order value
- Who should test it
- Stores that already offer a money-back guarantee but present it as small print or policy text. It may do little if the guarantee is already prominent, or if your refund costs are high.
Questions
Does guarantee copy affect conversion rate?
In this test it did. Only the guarantee section changed, and conversion rate rose by about 12% while order value stayed flat.
How should I write a money-back guarantee section?
The winning version led with a bold headline and explained the benefit to the buyer. Test more than one rewrite, as Dave Diederen did, because versions can perform quite differently.
Will a stronger guarantee raise refunds?
This test didn't report refunds. Profit per visitor rose 13.06%, but watch your refund rate over a longer period.
