Two clarifying words in the product title: +4.04% profit/visitor
Adding two clarifying words to a product title lifted profit per visitor by 4.04%, which projects to about $267,576 extra profit a year. Dave Diederen ran the test for a client brand. Conversion rate rose 3.02% and order value did not change.
- Profit per visitor: +4.04% ($1.76 to $1.83), about +$22,298 per month. The $267,576 figure is that monthly gain projected over 12 months.
- Conversion rate: +3.02% (3.94% to 4.06%), about 373 more orders per month.
- Revenue per visitor: +3.96% ($1.89 to $1.96).
- Average order value: no change ($47.82 vs $48.25).
- All intervals ran from below zero (about -6% to -9%) to well above, so the lift is not certain.
The change
Variant adds two clarifying words to the product title
Simplified mockup drawn by LiftArchive from the shared screenshots.
Control
The original product title, without the added words.
Variant
The title with two extra words. The test group in the dashboard is labelled "With Saw Palmetto In Title". The post gave "Sweat-Proof" only as an example of the idea.
Why it likely won
Our reading of the result, not the practitioner's claim.
- the added words told shoppers what the product contains or does, so they did not have to work it out.
- the title is one of the first things people read, so a small wording change reaches every visitor.
Caveats: The confidence intervals crossed zero, and sample size and duration were not shared. The dashboard suggests the real wording was an ingredient name rather than the "Sweat-Proof" example in the post.

How to run this test on your store
- Hypothesis
- If we add the key ingredient or benefit to our product title, then more visitors will buy because they understand what the product is straight away.
- Primary metric
- Profit per visitor
- Guardrails
- Average order value
- Organic search clicks to the product
- Return rate
- Who should test it
- Stores with brand-led or vague product names that don't say what the product does or contains. If your titles are already descriptive, expect little change.
