New homepage banner layout: +22.12% revenue per visitor
A new homepage banner layout lifted revenue per visitor by 22.12% and conversion rate by 17.12% on a Shopify store. Dave Diederen ran this test. The template they shared pairs a problem-led headline with two shop buttons, a review line and a money-back guarantee.
- Conversion rate: 1.71% to 2.00%, a 17.12% lift. The tool estimated about 466 extra orders a month.
- Revenue per visitor: $1.13 to $1.38, a 22.12% lift, estimated at about $39,837 extra a month.
- Profit per visitor: $0.77 to $0.95, a 22.86% lift, estimated at about $28,163 extra profit a month.
- Average order value: $66.14 to $68.96, up 4.27%. A second variant (Group B) also edged above control but by less.
- Every range shown crosses zero (revenue per visitor -27% to +108%), so the size of the lift is uncertain.
The change
The banner is rebuilt with a problem headline, two buttons, reviews and a guarantee.
Simplified mockup drawn by LiftArchive from the shared screenshots.
Control
The store's existing homepage banner. Its design was not shown in the post.
Variant
A rebuilt banner with a review badge, a headline naming the shopper's problem and a line on how the product solves it. Two buttons sent shoppers to different products, with a 90-day guarantee beneath. The image shared is a template, so exact copy is not shown.
Why it likely won
Our reading of the result, not the practitioner's claim.
- a headline that names a problem tells visitors right away whether the store is for them.
- two buttons let shoppers pick a path instead of landing on one default page.
- reviews and a guarantee near the buttons lower the risk of clicking through.
Caveats: The result ranges are very wide and all cross zero, which points to a smallish sample. Test length and visitor counts were not shared, and the control design was not shown.

How to run this test on your store
- Hypothesis
- If we rebuild the homepage banner around a problem-led headline, two clear shop buttons, a review line and a guarantee, then revenue per visitor will rise because visitors quickly see the product is for them and know where to go.
- Primary metric
- Revenue per visitor
- Guardrails
- Profit per visitor
- Average order value
- Homepage bounce rate
- Who should test it
- Stores whose products solve a clear problem and that get real homepage traffic. Stores where most visitors land straight on product pages from ads will see less effect.
Questions
What should a homepage hero banner include?
The winning template here had a review line, a headline naming the shopper's problem, a short line on the solution, two shop buttons and a guarantee.
Is it better to have one or two buttons in a homepage banner?
This variant used two buttons pointing to different products and won on revenue per visitor. Other elements changed too, so the buttons' own effect is not known.
How big a lift can a homepage banner test give?
Here revenue per visitor rose 22.12%, but the range ran from -27% to +108%. Treat big homepage wins as a reason to retest.
