Test a cart drawer where each line item has its own Subscribe & Save 20% toggle, with a free-shipping-unlocked bar, a 'Pairs well with' carousel and the total savings shown next to checkout. Letting shoppers switch to subscription in the cart can raise subscription share without adding a PDP step.
