"Best Seller" label above product title: +12.99% RPV
Adding a "Best Seller" label directly above the product title raised revenue per visitor by 12.99% in Dave Diederen's test. Conversion rate rose 11.59% and profit per visitor rose 12.87%. They report the same pattern in fashion, beauty and supplements.
- Profit per visitor: +12.87% ($5.68 to $6.41). This was the primary metric.
- Revenue per visitor: +12.99% ($6.83 to $7.72).
- Conversion rate: +11.59% (3.14% to 3.50%).
- Average order value: +1.25% ($217.74 to $220.47), roughly flat. All ranges cross zero.
The change
The variant adds a "Best Seller" text label directly above the product title.
Simplified mockup drawn by LiftArchive from the shared screenshots.
Control
The product page showed the title with no best-seller label near it.
Variant
A "Best Seller" text label was added right above the product title, not as a badge on the images.
Why it likely won
Our reading of the result, not the practitioner's claim.
- the label sits where the eye lands first, so shoppers get a popularity signal before reading anything else.
- knowing others bought it reduces the risk of choosing wrong.
- it signals demand without fake timers or viewer counts, so it reads as believable.
Caveats: All ranges cross zero (profit per visitor -10% to +42%), so this test alone is not conclusive. Sample size and test length were not shared. The label should only go on products that really are best sellers.

How to run this test on your store
- Hypothesis
- If we add a "Best Seller" label above the title on our top products, then more visitors will buy because they see the product is a popular, safe choice.
- Primary metric
- Profit per visitor
- Guardrails
- Revenue per visitor
- Average order value
- Who should test it
- Stores with clear best sellers that get a lot of product page traffic. It loses meaning if the label is placed on most of the catalogue.
Questions
Do best seller labels increase conversion?
In this test, a "Best Seller" label above the title raised conversion rate 11.59% and revenue per visitor 12.99%.
Where should a best seller badge go?
This test put it as text right above the product title, where shoppers look first, rather than on the product images.
Can I put a best seller label on every product?
Use it only on true best sellers. If it appears everywhere it stops meaning anything and can mislead customers.
