# Half as many paywall prompts, better timed: +81% offer conversion

- Outcome: Won

Wizz, a dating app, cut its monetization prompts by about half and showed them only at more receptive moments, and its primary offer flow converted 81% better. Wizz ran the test, and it was retold on the RevenueCat blog from a case study by ContextSDK, which sells context-based timing. LTV in the test cohorts rose by roughly 20%.

## Result

**+81% on the primary offer flow; LTV up about 20%**

- Primary offer flow conversion: +81%.
- LTV in the test cohorts: up about 20%, so the gain held beyond the first purchase.
- Sample size, duration and significance were not shared.

## Control

Users saw the usual volume of monetization prompts, wherever the existing rules triggered them.

## Variant

Roughly half as many prompts. Offers were held back in low-intent moments and shown when users were more likely to be receptive.

## Why it likely won (our reading)

- Fewer interruptions likely meant each prompt was read rather than dismissed out of habit.
- Showing offers when users had time and attention matched the ask to their intent.
- Less pressure may have kept users happier, which can support retention and LTV.

## Caveats

No sample size or duration was shared. The result comes from ContextSDK, which sells the timing tool, and was retold by its co-founder Felix Krause, so it may lean positive.

## How to run this test

- Hypothesis: If we cut paywall prompts by about half and only show them in high-intent moments, then conversion per prompt and LTV will rise because users are asked when they are ready to decide.
- Primary metric: Conversion on the primary offer flow, judged by cohort LTV
- Guardrail: Total purchases per user
- Guardrail: Refunds and early churn
- Guardrail: Session length or retention
- Who should test it: Apps that show many prompts across sessions, such as dating, social and games. If your app shows a single onboarding paywall, there is little volume to cut.
