Adding the percent saved next to the original and sale price on product pages lifted add to cart by 11.5% and conversion rate by 9%. Prismfly ran this 50/50 A/B test for Revival Rugs, a home goods brand selling rugs. The star rating also moved to its own line, a small second change.

## Result

**+11.5% add to cart**

- Add to cart rate: +11.5%.
- Conversion rate: +9%.
- Sample size, duration and significance were not shared.

## Control

Product pages showed the original price, the sale price and the average star rating together on one line.

## Variant

The same spot showed the original price, the sale price and the percent saved. The star rating moved to its own line above the price for clarity, especially on mobile.

## Why it likely won (our reading)

- Rugs are high-ticket items. Doing the maths for shoppers makes the size of the deal obvious at a glance.
- A percent figure is easier to judge than two prices side by side, especially when the prices are large.
- Giving the rating its own line may have made the price area less cluttered, but the test can't separate that effect.

## Caveats

Sample size, duration and statistical significance were not shared. The star rating also moved, so the lift is not purely from the percent-off label.

## How to run this test

- Hypothesis: If we show the percent saved next to the original and sale price, then add to cart will rise because shoppers see the value of the discount without doing the maths.
- Primary metric: Add to cart rate
- Guardrail: Conversion rate
- Guardrail: Average order value
- Guardrail: Revenue per visitor
- Who should test it: Stores that run regular sales on higher-priced items. It won't apply if you rarely discount, and constant large markdowns can cheapen a premium brand.
