Moving the shade-matching quiz to the top of the mobile menu, with swatch images and a 'Take a quiz' button, added an estimated $101,495 a month in revenue. Convertibles ran this A/B/n test with five versions in Intelligems for a 9-figure makeup brand. Quiz takers already converted at higher rates, but the link was buried.

## Result

**+$101,495/month**

- Monthly revenue: an estimated +$101,495 for the quiz-at-top version, as reported by the agency.
- The same quiz promo placed in the middle of the menu did not win, so position mattered.
- A visual category menu and a best-seller cards menu also lost.
- No conversion rate, quiz-start or confidence figures were published.

## Control

A text-only mobile menu listing categories. The 'Find Your Shade' quiz link sat near the bottom, styled like every other link.

## Variant

A 'Find your perfect match' promo with shade swatches and a 'Take a quiz' button sat at the very top of the menu, above the same category list.

## Why it likely won (our reading)

- The quiz was already a high-converting path, so more visibility meant more people took it.
- People look at the top of a menu first, and many never scroll to the middle.
- For makeup, picking the right shade is a bigger barrier than finding a product, which the quiz solves.
- Swatch images made the promise of a personal match clear before anyone tapped.

## Caveats

The agency reported the result as an estimated monthly revenue gain. Sample size, test length and confidence were not shared.

## How to run this test

- Hypothesis: If we promote our product quiz at the top of the mobile menu with visuals and a clear button, then more shoppers will buy because more of them take the path that converts best.
- Primary metric: Revenue per visitor
- Guardrail: Quiz completion rate
- Guardrail: Category page visits from menu
- Guardrail: Return rate
- Who should test it: Brands with a quiz or finder that already converts well, where fit or shade is the main barrier. If your quiz doesn't outperform normal browsing, promoting it won't help.
