Adding visible image thumbnails below the main product photo on mobile lifted conversion rate by 6.14% for children's book brand Little Bible Stories. Blend Commerce ran this mobile-only A/B test. Revenue per visitor rose 7.09%.

## Result

**+6.14% conversion**

- Conversion rate: +6.14%.
- Revenue per visitor: +7.09%.
- Abandoned checkout rate: -4.46%, a good sign.
- Add-to-cart rate and order value stayed flat.
- New visitors: conversion +8% and revenue per visitor +10%.

## Control

The mobile product gallery used small circles to move between images, so shoppers could not see what each image showed before tapping.

## Variant

A row of image thumbnails appeared below the main product image on mobile, showing all available pictures at once.

## Why it likely won (our reading)

- Heatmaps showed shoppers tapping the circles a lot, so they wanted to see more images.
- Thumbnails show what each image holds, so shoppers spend less effort exploring.
- First-time visitors who don't know the brand need visual reassurance, which fits the bigger lift for new visitors.

## Caveats

Mobile only, where 92% of the brand's traffic came from. Sample size, duration and significance were not shared.

## How to run this test

- Hypothesis: If we show image thumbnails under the main product image on mobile, then conversion will rise because shoppers can see all product views at a glance.
- Primary metric: Conversion rate
- Guardrail: Add-to-cart rate
- Guardrail: Page load time
- Guardrail: Revenue per visitor
- Who should test it: Mobile-heavy stores whose galleries rely on dots or swipes, especially where the inside or detail of a product matters. If you only have one or two images, thumbnails add little.
