Adding a one-click upsell for more of the same new cleanser converted 28% of buyers and added 20 to 25% to launch revenue. Ezra Firestone reported this for the BOOM! by Cindy Joseph launch of Boom! Clean on the Zipify blog. This was a before/after rollout, not a split test.

## Result

**28% take rate**

- Upsell take rate: 28% of launch buyers accepted the offer.
- Launch revenue: about 20 to 25% more, credited to the upsell.
- The post's unit counts don't add up (it says a third of roughly 3,000 units, then 8,000), so we leave them out.
- The post also says turning on upsells lifted overall store revenue 10% on day one.

## Control

Buyers went straight from checkout to a standard thank-you page.

## Variant

Buyers of the new cleanser saw a one-click offer for more of it. Those who said yes then got a second upsell.

## Why it likely won (our reading)

- A new product's first buyers are keen, and stocking up right away is a small step.
- More of the same item needs no new decision about fit or use.
- One click with saved payment removes the friction of a second checkout.

## Caveats

Not a split test, so there is no control group; the launch also sold out, which may have helped demand. Published by Zipify, which sells the upsell app.

## How to run this test

- Hypothesis: If we offer more of a newly launched product right after checkout, then launch revenue will rise because eager first buyers will stock up.
- Primary metric: Revenue per order during the launch
- Guardrail: Upsell take rate
- Guardrail: Refund rate on upsell orders
- Guardrail: Stock levels
- Who should test it: Brands with repeat-use products and enough stock to cover upsell demand. If supply is tight, extra units sold as upsells may just replace later full-price orders.
