Making AFTCO's mobile add-to-cart button sticky, with the price and a small cart icon on it, lifted add-to-cart rate 3.9% and conversion rate 6.2%. Clean Commit ran this test for AFTCO, an outdoor and fishing apparel brand, and published it in its A/B test library. Clean Commit called it a winner, but no sample size or confidence level was shared.

## Result

**+3.9% add-to-cart**

- Add-to-cart rate: +3.9%, the metric the test targeted.
- Conversion rate: +6.2%, and orders rose 4.4%.
- Revenue per visitor: +3.6%, even though average order value fell 2.5%.
- Click-through rate: +0.8%, a small change.

## Control

The add-to-cart button on mobile product pages stayed in place and scrolled out of view as shoppers read further down.

## Variant

The button stuck to the screen on mobile, showed the product price, and had a small cart icon.

## Why it likely won (our reading)

- Shoppers who read long product content no longer had to scroll back up to buy.
- Showing the price on the button reminds shoppers of the cost at the moment they decide.
- The cart icon makes the button's job obvious at a glance on a small screen.

## Caveats

No sample size, duration or significance level was shared. Three changes shipped together (sticky, price, icon), so each one's share of the lift is unknown.

## How to run this test

- Hypothesis: If we make the mobile add-to-cart button sticky and show the price on it, then more shoppers will add to cart because the button is always in reach.
- Primary metric: Mobile add-to-cart rate
- Guardrail: Conversion rate
- Guardrail: Average order value
- Guardrail: Revenue per visitor
- Who should test it: Stores with long mobile product pages full of specs, reviews or stories. On short pages where the button is always visible, the gain is likely small.
