Tightening the top of the mobile product page, updating the add-to-cart button and moving a rewritten benefits section above reviews lifted add-to-cart rate 17.8%. Clean Commit ran this test for an anonymized Shopify store and published it in its A/B test library. The result was significant across 16,456 mobile visitors, but several changes shipped together, so no single one gets the credit.

## Result

**+17.8% add-to-cart**

- Add-to-cart rate: +17.8%, statistically significant, with a probability to beat the original that rounded to 100%.
- Bounce rate fell 4.1% and click-through rate rose 2.3%, so more shoppers stayed engaged.
- Orders and revenue were not tracked, so the effect on sales is unknown.

## Control

The original mobile product page, with the benefits section placed below reviews.

## Variant

Sizing and spacing at the top were tightened, the add-to-cart button was updated, and the benefits section was rewritten with new images and moved above reviews.

## Why it likely won (our reading)

- Moving benefits higher means shoppers see reasons to buy before they reach the reviews or lose interest.
- A tighter top section brings the add-to-cart button and key details into view sooner on a small screen.
- New benefit copy and images may simply have explained the product better than the old version.

## Caveats

Several changes shipped together, so the lift can't be tied to one of them. The test measured add-to-cart on mobile, not orders or revenue.

## How to run this test

- Hypothesis: If we tighten the top of the mobile product page, update the add-to-cart button and show benefits before reviews, then add-to-cart rate will rise because shoppers see the reasons to buy sooner.
- Primary metric: Mobile add-to-cart rate
- Guardrail: Mobile conversion rate
- Guardrail: Revenue per visitor
- Guardrail: Bounce rate
- Who should test it: Stores with long mobile product pages where benefits sit far down. To learn which part matters, test the benefits move on its own. If your benefits already show near the top, expect less.
