Placing a short free shipping threshold note directly below the add-to-cart button made no clear difference: conversion rate moved -0.2% across 76,500 visitors. Clean Commit ran this test for an anonymized Shopify store and published it in its A/B test library. With 99% statistical power, the test was big enough to find a meaningful effect, and it didn't.

## Result

**no clear change (-0.2%)**

- Conversion rate: -0.2%. Flat: no clear difference.
- Revenue per visitor: +3.7%, on a 3.9% higher average order value, but within normal variation.
- Add-to-cart rate: +1.1%, and orders +0.2%.
- Devices split: desktop conversion rate +4.7%, mobile -1.6%, neither clear.

## Control

The product page had no shipping note directly under the add-to-cart button.

## Variant

A short free shipping threshold message sat right below add to cart, styled to match nearby text. The 'In stock, ready to ship' note moved as well.

## Why it likely came out this way (our reading)

- Shoppers may already have known the free shipping threshold from elsewhere on the site, such as an announcement bar.
- A note styled to match nearby text is easy to read past.
- The threshold may nudge some shoppers to add more, which fits the small rise in order value, without changing whether they buy.

## Caveats

76,500 visitors with 99% statistical power, so a flat result here is informative. Test duration was not shared, and the in-stock note moved at the same time.

## How to run this test

- Hypothesis: If we show the free shipping threshold right below add to cart, then more shoppers will buy because they know the shipping cost at the moment they decide.
- Primary metric: Conversion rate
- Guardrail: Average order value
- Guardrail: Mobile conversion rate
- Who should test it: Stores whose free shipping offer is not shown anywhere else on the product page. If it is already in an announcement bar or near the price, moving it is unlikely to matter much.
