Showing homepage product recommendations in a single scrollable row, with the View All link moved to the top, lifted conversion rate by 3.4% and revenue per visitor by 6.0%. Clean Commit ran this test for an anonymized Shopify store and published it in its A/B test library. We count it as inconclusive: the result was not statistically significant, and the gain came from desktop while mobile stayed flat.

## Result

**+3.4% conversions, unproven**

- Conversion rate: +3.4%, not statistically significant, so treat it as inconclusive.
- Revenue per visitor: +6.0%, and add-to-cart rate: +2.5%.
- Click-through rate: +1.5%, with a 98.7% probability of beating the original. Bounce rate fell 7.0%.
- Desktop conversion rose 12.8%, while mobile was flat at -0.2%.

## Control

Homepage recommendations shown in a grid, with the View All link at the end.

## Variant

Recommendations shown in one horizontally scrollable row, with the View All link at the top under the New Arrivals heading.

## Why it likely came out this way (our reading)

- Moving View All to the top makes it visible before visitors scroll past the products.
- A single row takes less vertical space, so visitors reach the rest of the homepage sooner.
- Horizontal scrolling may suit desktop browsing better here, which could explain why mobile did not move.

## Caveats

The conversion lift was not statistically significant, and the agency labeled it a positive signal. The gain came from desktop, and sample size and duration were not shared.

## How to run this test

- Hypothesis: If we show homepage recommendations in one scrollable row with View All at the top, then more visitors will click into products and the full collection because scrolling is easier and the link is easier to see.
- Primary metric: Click-through rate on homepage recommendations
- Guardrail: Conversion rate
- Guardrail: Mobile revenue per visitor
- Who should test it: Stores with a New Arrivals or best sellers section on the homepage and a good share of desktop traffic. If nearly all traffic is mobile, expect little change.
