Showing the collection name at the top of collection pages moved conversion rate by -1.0%, an inconclusive result. Clean Commit ran this test for a Shopify store and published it in its A/B test library. Across 15,765 visitors, a page label on its own did not change how people bought.

## Result

**-1.0% CR, inconclusive**

- Conversion rate: -1.0%. No clear difference.
- Revenue per visitor: +6.4%, on a 7.4% higher average order value. Within normal variation.
- Add-to-cart rate rose 2.4% and orders were flat at -0.2%.
- Desktop conversion rose 27.6% while mobile fell 8.9%, but the desktop sample was much smaller.

## Control

Collection pages had no visible collection name.

## Variant

Each collection page showed its name at the top, so shoppers could see which collection they were browsing.

## Why it likely came out this way (our reading)

- Shoppers usually arrive on a collection by clicking a named menu item or link, so they already know where they are.
- A title helps orientation but gives no new reason to buy.
- The products, prices and images on the page likely drive the decision far more than a heading.

## Caveats

Test duration and confidence level were not shared. The desktop lift rests on a much smaller sample than mobile.

## How to run this test

- Hypothesis: If we add the collection name to the top of collection pages, then conversion rate will rise because shoppers can confirm what they are browsing and navigate with less confusion.
- Primary metric: Conversion rate
- Guardrail: Bounce rate
- Guardrail: Add-to-cart rate
- Who should test it: Stores with many similar-looking collections or lots of traffic landing on collections from ads and search. It is unlikely to matter if shoppers mostly reach collections from a clearly labeled menu.
