Showing one-click size buttons on desktop product cards raised add-to-cart rate 29.7% but left conversion rate flat at 0.0%. Clean Commit ran this test for an anonymized Shopify store on 13,432 desktop visitors. Orders fell 3.5% and revenue per visitor 10.4%, so the extra adds did not become sales.

## Result

**0% conversion change**

- Conversion rate did not move (0.0%), with a 50.9% probability to beat control.
- Add-to-cart rate rose 29.7% and bounce rate fell 21.6%, so shoppers used the buttons.
- Orders fell 3.5% and revenue per visitor fell 10.4%. Both are negative.
- More adds to cart did not lead to more orders.

## Control

Desktop product cards on collection pages had no quick-add option. Shoppers opened the product page to pick a size.

## Variant

Hovering over a product card on desktop showed size buttons that added that size to the cart in one click, with out-of-stock sizes disabled. Mobile stayed the same.

## Why it likely came out this way (our reading)

- One-click adds are easy, so shoppers may add items casually and drop them later.
- Skipping the product page means skipping photos, details and reviews that help people commit to buying.
- Shoppers who would have browsed several product pages may have added one item and stopped, which could explain lower revenue.

## Caveats

Desktop only, on 13,432 visitors; duration was not shared. No metric showed a clear result on conversion.

## How to run this test

- Hypothesis: If we show size buttons on product cards when hovered, then more shoppers will add to cart and buy because they don't need to open the product page.
- Primary metric: Conversion rate
- Guardrail: Orders
- Guardrail: Revenue per visitor
- Guardrail: Average order value
- Who should test it: Apparel stores with repeat buyers who already know their size and the product. For new shoppers or products that need photos and reviews to sell, quick-add may raise adds without raising orders, as it did here.
