Adding a collar-and-sleeve bundle offer near the add-to-cart button lifted average order value 9.8% and revenue per visitor 0.6%. Clean Commit ran this test for an anonymized Shopify store and published it in its A/B test library. Conversion rate fell 4.0%, so the gain came from bigger orders, not more buyers.

## Result

**+9.8% AOV**

- Average order value rose 9.8%, so shoppers who bought spent more, and more of them took the sleeve upsell.
- Revenue per visitor, the main goal, rose only 0.6%. The bigger orders were mostly offset by fewer buyers.
- Conversion rate fell 4.0% and add-to-cart rate fell 2.9%. Both are negative and point to added friction.
- Clicks rose 24.3% and click-through rate 23.0%, so the offer drew attention.

## Control

The product page had no bundle offer. Shoppers picked a size and variant and added the collar to the cart on its own.

## Variant

A "Buy Collar, Get Off Sleeves" promotion sat near the add-to-cart button, with a sleeve add-on option below the selectors. The discount applied automatically when both items were in the cart, and the page showed the original and discounted prices.

## Why it likely won (our reading)

- A clear money-off deal on a matching item gives shoppers a reason to add a second product.
- Showing the original and discounted price side by side makes the saving easy to see.
- The extra option near the buy button likely made the decision harder for some shoppers. Clean Commit noted some found the offer confusing, which fits the drop in conversion.

## Caveats

Clean Commit did not share sample size, duration or confidence, and listed the outcome as a positive signal while calling it a winner. The revenue gain is small and conversion fell, so treat this as a modest win on order value.

## How to run this test

- Hypothesis: If we offer a discount on a matching add-on next to the add-to-cart button, then average order value will rise because shoppers see a bargain that completes the main product.
- Primary metric: Revenue per visitor
- Guardrail: Conversion rate
- Guardrail: Add-to-cart rate
- Guardrail: Average order value
- Who should test it: Stores whose products have a natural companion item, like a collar and sleeves or a case and strap. It probably won't help if the add-on feels unrelated, or if your buyers already struggle with too many options on the page.
